87 maxima - PB 15.155 @ 89.74

Just wanted to post up our best time of the summer for our car. The car's an 87 Maxima SE with about 180000 miles on it that we picked up last year for real cheap. This summer we've made really good progress. We started the summer in the mid 17s and our best timeslip was this past week.

RT - .321
60' - 2.191
330' - 6.253
1/8mph - 71.51
1/8 ET - 9.672
1000' - 12.644
1/4mph - 89.74
1/4 ET - 15.155

The only real mods are:

Stripped interior - dash, carpet, excess wiring, sound deadening, everything
Removed rear bumper and excess trim, lights, rear brakes, sway bars, anything at all excess.
Removed most emissions systems
Homemade intake made from flexible heater duct and no air filter
Removed exhaust from flexpipe back
AC compressor removed and belt routed to eliminate power steering
Timing is set at about 23 degrees advanced
93 octane
~22psi in front tires

The car feels really good, launches hard and pulls strong all the way to redline. It's really hard to believe it's got 18xxxx miles on it. It's a little rough to steer with no power steering or sway bars, but it's fine at the drag strip. So far we're into this car for about 500 bucks. And that includes the cost of the car. Next summer we start with the turbo setup sitting in the garage, we never got to it this year. So we'll see what we can do with that. This car is good proof of what weight reduction can do for a car, not that anyone really needed proof.

We is me and two of my friends. We split the cost of the car and take turns racing it every week. And the car you saw was probably us, we race at Lebanon every week. There's some pictures in the 2nd gen forum.

The car's only used for drag racing and the rear brakes don't do much. They were seized up and the car stops perfectly fine with no noticeable difference really.

nice times. how do you pass tech with no rear brakes?

my buddies and I do the same with sentras. last year we ran a 13.1@110 with less than $800 into the car and setup.

slap that turbo on and tune it well, id like to see some good times and not a blown motor.

Tech inspection up there is a joke. They tug on the battery tie down and check under the car to make sure it doesn't leak. They stopped checking our car after a couple weeks because it was familiar. Just slapped the number right on the side.
