This weekend I sanded down and painted my 5th gen OEM front grill.

I used Krylon Fusion (plastic) paint with a gloss black finish. Here are some pics of the finished product. I decided to paint the gril black to match my black-housing projectors.

you need to remove the bumper to work with it since you need to spray from behind the grill also to get an even and complete finish. Plus...I didnt want to go through the trouble of masking the hell out of the rest of my car since that plastic paint sticks like a b**** to everything around it. Taking off the bumper is not difficult at all you just loosen the 2 screws (1 on each side) of the front wheel wells...and there is a few clips also holding it on...the whole job is like a weekend DIY

 

This is the same paint I used for my grill. Warning: This paint peels in really cold weather. My grill looked great for the summer that I painted it, but once it got to around freezing it started peeling and chipping. It looks good though.

 

DAMN. I live in Toronto...it gets down to -20 C sometimes here during the winter....I'll keep you posted as to how my paint job holds up

but i plan on using duplicolor car.truck, and SUV paint and top it off with a clear coat
