14.701 @ 96.86 sep. 2 @ island dragway

i went to the track last week for EVO vs WRX, and had the opportunity run my car down the track, and was able to pull off a 14.9 @ 96 mph with like humidity around 80% and the temp around 92 degrees. it took me 6 runs, some of em were ****ty, but the 14.9 was the best.

well that was that. so sunday we decided to head down to Island Dragway to test the times again. this time i ran a 14.701 @ 96mph. i think thats a great time for a bone stock car. i was pretty excited when i got the slip, because that is my personal best, and i was only 2 thousandths away from 14.6 which is the time set by C&D. i felt proud of myself, what do you guys think. but damn i cant believe i was 2 thousandths away from hitting a 14.6, oh well there is always next time.

next time we will go in the night, when its cooler, and not so humid.

oh btw, i dropped my front tire pressure to 25 psi, and i took the filter out of my intake box for the runs. looks like it paid off so those are a couple of tips for you guys. i had a pretty good launch for myself too, i hit a 2.2 60ft, so for a FWD car, id say thats pretty good.

and another thing i drive a 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE 6 spd, just in case you guys didnt know, and also race weight was 3362 with me in the car =]

ill try to get the timeslips for you guys tommorow. feel free to leave any and all opinions, and questions.

07 alti 6spd = 14.2 easy with some practice. 13's easy with slicks. but not bad for the first time

PS: put the filter back in, that slows you down. i told a honda guy last night to put his filter back on...he picked up .3s

speaking of low 14's. a guy by the name of jkgultimate just recently hit that mark with his last pass, and he is currently holding the rank for fastest STOCK 3.5 Altima...07 that is. oh and it was on street tires, so slicks not needed here, the car makes the power to pull off low 14's trapping nearly 100 mph. maybe a little weight reduction so see those 13's

New runs in 70 F weather. I dropped the front tire pressure to 23 PSI both tires. I took out the spare tire at the track and put it in the back of my friends pick up truck lol. The track was preped finally properly with no extra water on the track. This is what my slip looks like:

60' : 2.204
330': 5.970
1/8: 9.246
MPH: 79.72
1000: 12.041
1/4: 14.180
MPH: 99.83 (I consider this 100 MPH)

I think I could squeeze a little better traps if the weather drops to around 60-65F. Next time maybe I'll just drop on ice on the intake manifold and let it sit for 30 minutes lol. The traction control was on, for some reason, It was doing much better. My best time with the traction control off is 14.3 at 99 MPH. I was shifting much faster this time VS my last 14.4 run. Man I wish I could hit a high 13, but I think I am on the limit of my skill and my car is on the limit of its power. Maybe a Fuijta intake and stillen Exhaust system might help me out and some lowering springs for better weight distribution.

but i will take your advice on the filter thing. im gonna experiment next time i go. i have to make sure that i drive good though, and not mess anything up. hopefully i get more than 5 runs this way i can really experiment.

yeah, a lot of it is practice. if you go enough and get some good conditions i truly believe that a stock 07 with minor weight reduction (spare, maybe seats) can pull 13's on street tires. dont put yourself in the position of aiming for that though. just go out there and practice. as the overused saying goes "the best mod is a good driver"

Nice run! The new Altima is still a pretty light vehicle. 3362 with you in the car and 270 crank HP is a great Power to weight ratio!

well even if i beat the magazine times, although i will have bragging rights, and call up C&D and tell them they should hire me, i wont have the fastest stock 3.5 altima. im looking to beat a 14.1 which is not at all easily achieveable, but i will definately try.

thanks for all the compliments everyone.

Not bad for starting out at all.....now, IIRC, a couple of '02s have also run 14.1-14.2s stock at around 3200lbs w/o driver....you must be fairly light to have a sub 3400lb weight w/driver. I was thinking the Altima was around 3300lbs to begin with but I guess not, unless you're a horse jockey on the side

well i could almost qualify for a horse jockey, im 5'5" and 115 lbs, so im a lightweight. my car weighed in at 3362 w/a 115lb driver, and 1/4 tank of gas which is about 5 gallons. a gallon of gas is about 8 lbs, and i had about 5 or less which is 40lbs. so the dry weight of my car should be about 3362 - 115 - 40 = 3208lbs, give or take a few, or you can just call it an even 3200lbs. point is im a pretty light guy, so i should be able to hit better times just because of my weight. i have to also get adjusted to the car so im gonna try and hit better times next time, and do some last minute weight reductions like removing spare tire, and the jack, and some miscellaneous items that are in my trunk. i pretty much have the hang of the car now, so i should be good.

im really gonna try my best to hit at least a 14.3 if not lower.
