They're legal, look at half of the domestic vehicles made. My girl has a 95 s-10 blazer...just two big red taillights...they blink or they get brighter...that's it. No orange...hope this helps.

Yeah I read somewhere that in California it's illegal to have clear corners because we need to have a orange reflective strip somewhere on the front...dont know if its true tho

It's probably true, cause in Hawaii it's illegal to have clear corners. The Honda guys have been getting pulled over for their Altezzas. But as far as having red turn signals goes (assuming they are the back ones and not the front ones) it's legal cause our Quest has them.

legal

as pointed out red turn signals are legal ( in US atleast ).
most american cars have that.

I think it's not so in Canada -- canadian folks - do american made cars have red turn lights there too ??

IMHO it's kinda stupid (risky ) to have red turn lights ...

but if u like the looks, go for it !!

What do you mean by "it's not so in Canada"? In Canada red blinking signals are completely legal. Just look at all those Caravans on the road!

Clear corners are not legal tho. You must have orange reflective material on the front side and red reflective material on the rear side. (aka sidemakers)

Hope it helps.

By the way, if you get in an accident and then the insurance finds out that you have clear corners or altezzas, you are going to have fun arguing that it's not related to the accident. (ie. "I can't see the car coz there's only two white lights moving, not one orange and one red." (looking from the side in a very dark night))

What about in NJ? My friend (in an Integra) says that the front clears are legal but rears are illegal and he failed inspection because of it...

Constant searching = thread revival...

Just wanted to let you 5th geners know that in Cali it is illegal to have red turn signals on a car that didn't have them from the factory. Why? Because you have tampered with a DOT approved device without having it reapproved by the DOT.

I was driving my friend's 97 accord with all red tails and separate reverse white lights. The reverse lights were ok, I assume, but the cop stopped me and said that he has a similar accord and that those aren't the stock lights threfore he can give me a ticket for it. The rest of the car was stock (including yellow ugly headlights) so he let us go. Cops won't stress over this unless they're in a really really bad mood.

Not sure what state you're in (i'm too lazy to look) but you can usually find your state's laws on the internet. For the VA folks, here is a page that someone sent to me:

http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...10000000000000

Anyway. I don't think the tailights would be a big concern, since hardly anyone would ever even notice. Clear sides, on the other hand, are somewhat more noticeable and are illegal in most places. As for the tailights, i'm still not sure of their legality, because as someone pointed out, you are tampering w/ DOT devices. But i like mine. . .
