My tranny in my 96 5 speed is going out. I do alot of road racing and autoXing and I would like to find an I30t tranny or canadian market VLSD tranny. First, I have a few questions.

What years were the VLSD 5 speeds offered in the I30, and was it only the I30t or what? Second, what years were the VLSD 5 speeds in the canadian market maximas, and was the VLSD standard, or an option, or what. Also, does ANYONE know where I can actually find one? I did a search on www.car-part.com and I found 2 in the entire USA, both out west in Cali and AZ. I'm in michigan... so thats probably not going to work. Are there any Canadian .ORG members in ontario, I'm only about 2.5 hours from Windsor and like 6 hours from Toronto. My transmission is rapidly deteriorating... and I am afraid it's going to totally go out before I'm able to get a VLSD.

For those of you with VLSD trannies... was it a straight swap? No problems with sensors or anything else that will hinder me getting one? Also, where did you get yours, and if you don't mind saying, how much did you pay? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

VLSD found on touring models...

The VLSD was found on all the touring models of the US Infiniti. So any I30t should have the VLSD. I'm not too sure about which Canadian Maximas had it.

Why don't you just save the trouble and buy my Infiniti? It would save you a heck of a lot of money in labor costs. =)

DaEnigma... thanks but no thanks on the Quaife, they are like $1600. And then on top of that I'd still have to rebuild my tranny. And on top of that it would take me out of STS class and put me in SM, where I'd get the crap kicked out of me. I'm just looking for the stock I30t tranny (thanks John C for clearing it up) or a Canadian Market Maxima VLSD tranny. Thanks for replying though, I do appreciate that both of you have bothered to look at this thread.

Loren might know the answer to this question. He may even have a VLSD now so I'll see what he said about problems, sensors, etc.
