Well, I'm doing a lot of different mods to the max and I wanted to know the best suspension? I mean one that's not going to kill me financially? I've heard about a lot of different combo's and I want to know what works best for you? The new potential cattman offerings sound nice but $1800 bucks for coil overs right now will take away from all the other "waiting to be installed" stuff right now. So what's your opinion and what are estimated costs?

best suspension, well if you consider the front strut tower bar it is cheap, easy to install, and works like a charm, the rear sway bar is a little over a hundred bucks unless speedy-t can make the deal with addco, also sprint springs do the biggest drop without having coilovers, so they would be my choice, can cost $125-175, but you will need new shocks/struts with them

TRY INTRAX AND KONI ADJUS TABLES

YOU CAN TRY INTRAX FOR 189.99 + $5.00 SHIPPING AND SOME KONI ADJUSTABLES ALL FOUR RUN FOR ABOUT $430-$450. YOU CAN GET THESE ITEMS FROM SUMMIT RACING. THATS WHERE I GOT MY STUFF OR YOU CAN TRY SOUTHWESTAUTOWORKS THEY HAVE THE SPRINTS FOR ABOUT $141.00 SHIPPED SOMEWHERE AROUND THERE. AND THATS ABOUT IT.

hey newbie, feel free to give that caps lock button a tap, also you can get the kybs for like 280 from custommaxima.com they are very good though no adjustable, we are still waiting on the kyb agx shocks which are going to be the ultimate

Hey, Red Max! I already have the FSTB&RSB. Ultimately I'm seeking a shock/spring combo.

sometimes you do, sometimes you dont, it atters how much negative camber you end up with, get an alignment after he install and they will tell you, 1 degree negative is ok, but any more can b bad

I hear you ! I'm looking for a one time, proven, no problems combination! I've got so many things happening at once. Christ, my wife demands a pool or an addition to the house, just to keep up with my "modding" problem!

The KYB AGX isn't a combo, its an adjustable strut made by KYB called AGX.

Its like Nissan and Maxima.

Also remember that Sprint Springs are on infinite backorder...you can get them, but they cost $200+ right now with shipping.

When they DO (If they do) come off of "national backorder", then you can get them at both Impactparts.com and southwestautoworks.com for $116.00

How could you guys forget about this?

Polyurethane front-end link bushings!

Costs less than $15 and really makes the front end feel more responsive.

Congratulations on your new Body Kit!!

I have come VERY close to hit the "send payment" button on H&R Springs and now B&G Springs with KYB GR2 struts...
Still debating whether I should spend $500 or not...

Thanks and I haven't read up on the B&G's yet. Maybe I should, huh? The H&r's were a definate consideration of mine but I realy don't drive the max to much. So I'm going with the extra 1/2".

id reccomend H&R springs and to wait for the KYB's to come out. I have the tokicos and they got too soft on me. so i need something a little stiffer and that will last> KYB's cant wait!

I heard that sprint springs give a harsh ride, so I went with Progress Tech springs (not very common but real good quality). They are a 1.7" front 1.5" rear drop but I had mine chopped to get a 2"/2" drop. Combined with KYB GR2 non-adjustable struts, they ride REALLY well. I would assume they're a nicer ride than sprints, and probably alot easier to get a hold of. Does anyone else have these springs? Im just curious if anyones heard anything bad about them and thats why theyre so uncommon. So far i've had them for almost a month and i havent had to go to the chiropractor yet for realignment

I've got Progress springs too and haven't had problems with them at all. I too was wondering why not many people have these springs or even heard of them. Hey AdMax98, how much harsher is your ride now that you cut a few coils?? That was something I was thinking of doing to cut out some of the fender gap remaining. Otherwise I think they ride great, gets a bit rough on potholes and uneven roads, but where I live I don't have to worry too much about it.

Watch for that drop. Too much drop and your alignment will be off for good, even WITH a camber kit...

Actually they only cut about half a coil and I think since the back coils are smaller diameter, it dropped the back more than the front, making it fairly even since it starts as 1.7/1.5 (altho the rear does sag a little when the spare tire is in the trunk :P). My camber is still in spec and it still rides nice For you Sprint guys, what is your front camber without camber plates after the drop?

cutting springs? ack! what you do is your choice, but that really tends to mess up the geometry the springs were designed with. that's the reason i went with the ground control's. they may not be the best quality coilover kit, but i can adjust the height if i get tired of it. and yes, the ride isn't exactly great either, but that also varies with how much i've got my max dropped. oh, and as far as the the original topic, i'd have to say the rear sway bar is your best buy for improving suspension...

Question, are you an everyday driver?
The reason I ask you this is that if you are, you may want to seriously consider coilovers (Ground Control adj. springs for about $450/ KYB AGX struts $380) b/c you have a bodykit to worry about. Coilover will allow you to adjust ride height so you don't use the bodykit as snow plow in the winter

I have H&R springs $225/Tokico $310. The combo gives you a comfy, factory-like ride w/ 1.5" drop up front and 1.4" drop in the back. Tokico struts are 'ok' but the dampening can be improved somewhat. KYB AGX is what everyone is raving about and is supposed to be MUCH better compared to the Tokicos. Tokicos are available from most shops now, whereas you have to wait for the KYB AGX. If you can wait for another month, KYB AGX struts is the way to go.

Super Street magazine is selling the new airbag suspension kit for around $830. They are sold on the interenet and shops for $1300 but for some reason the magazine has a great deal on them.
I've heard it is really nice. More quiet than the old hydrolics and faster than conventional air bags. You won't be hoppin down the strip but it's pretty close. These bags are fast!

I CUT ONE FULL COIL OFF MY INTRAX

I cut one of my coils from my intrax it rides fine. Now I have a camber kit that I am going to need to install at least from the way I am looking at the car the wheels are slightly tilted inward. I have koni adjustables and have it on the second setting no bottoming out at all. Great ride and no bouncing all over the place either. Ill post some pics for you guys. take care.

I fortunately, don't have to drive my car much at all. Maybe 3-4k per year! I used to drive 40k per year. I now work 3 miles from my house. I'm prolly gonna go with sprint/koni's. What do you think?

You guys all think camber bolts and camber plates are the end-all of your suspension woes. If you lower the car too much, it will still shorten the shock travel(unless you get coilovers) and start screwing up your control arm geometry. Of course the car will still ride okay on smooth roads, but start doing some serious roadwork and watch the bump over/understeer come up and bite you in the ***.

cutting springs is perfectly safe. I've done it for 2 entire hours on the highway and have had ZERO problems. IT'S PERFECTLY SAFE!

Russ didn't say it......I was just taking the tone he does about when he says certain "mods" such as 245 width tires on 17x7 wheels is perfectly safe when he doesn't even use it on his own car!
