To start, I would just like to say that I am new to the forum, and really like the site. I don't own a max yet but hope to in the near future. I have been a technician at a local (Cincinnati) nissan dealer for just over two years. The question I have is about wheel and tire combos. What backspacing should be used with a 17 wheel? Also, what size tires? Thank you all in advance. Pictures could be helpful as well, thanks.

17x7-17x8's are popular with 225/45 or 235/45 rubber...i think backspacing should be in the 45mm neighborhood...

Discounttiredirect.com has a good selection of tires and wheels...they also have an interactive program to see what a wheel looks like on a max... though last time i checked their website might be under maintainace...tirerack.com is also a good source...

Actually I seem to recall that Tirerack said 35-38mm offset is the spec for 17x8 rims for 4th gen Maximas. Different size wheels will require different offsets to fit the vehicle.

Yeah, the offset should be in the 35-42mm range. The ideal size is 17x8s with 235/45/17s.
