I really really love my Maxima and know it is a great car but it is gettin up there in miles. It now has almost 93K miles on it (i know that isnt very high for a nissan) but his dad owns a car dealership and wants me to trade him straight across for a 97 AWD Talon TSi except he will upgrade the Turbo for me so I wont have to use the stock one with 55K miles on it. I know those Talon TSi's are pretty fast and have kinda always wanted one but I dont know if I want to give up my Maxima. Oh by the way I wouldnt leave the SC in the max. So it comes down to 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE Automatic with 93K miles on it or a 1997 Eagle Talon AWD TSi with 55K miles on it. How long to the Talons last, im afraid they will die at a lot lower milage than the Maxima. Im not really seriously considering the offer yet I just wanted to see what you guys thought. Let me know, Take Care

A SC max or Eagle? No way. BTW Mistubishi/Eagle do not have the best reliability ratings, my friends 98 Eclipse's timing belt just snapped and messed up his engine.

Yeah, but like I said I wouldnt leave the SC in, the reason why I was wondering is because I didnt know how long my engine could last with the SC, so I wanted to move on to something with lower miles that was still fast. But like you said, I dont really trust the Eagle/Mitsubishi company that much either thats why I was sceptical. Im sure ill just keep the Max, Like i said I just wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks for your reply. Take Care

Hell No!

Eventho those DSM's are craaazy fast ur 93K VQ is gonna last you wayyy longer than that 55K mitsu ever will. I have only heard bad things about reliability issues with those cars. Check out owners comments at msn carpoint .. almost all of them are b*tchin about somethin.

Thanks for the response, I know, maybe if the Talons were more reliable than I would do it, but I wouldnt trust them so Ill stay with the Max, anyone else have any opinions? Take Care

Bleah..

I was like, talon for max? Yeah, for sure .. Then I read your mod list .. Talon for SC Max? No way .. They're faster, but the max with a SC is pretty quick regardless, and the reliability will be way better.

never, EVER..

own a mitsubishi. Nissan resale value is bad enough, Mitsu is even worse. If this guy wants to trade you straight up for your Maxima, don't you think he's gonna make more money selling your car than his crappy Talon? Why would he go to all the trouble of transferring the title if he wasn't going to make some money in the process. He's trying to take advantage of you, tell him thanks, but no thanks.

Oh BTW, look on www.edmunds.com, your 97 GXE is worth over $2000 more than a 97 Turbo AWD Talon.

Maybe if he gives you a couple grand to even the score... go ahead and offer him that and watch him back away, green $$ signs in his eyes disappearing...

DSM's are real quick, and can be made to be way faster than any maxima. However, they aren't as reliable, comfortable, or big. Your call, either way a nice car!
