OK.. I was trying to insert some big bulb on my door light and now the light is no longer working.
The strange thing is now only driver side is not working and passanger side door light is working perfectly!
I've checked all fuses and it seems fine.
I even checked the dead lightĄ¯s teminal and it seemed fine, too.
What the heck is the problem?
Why only driver side door light is not working while other side is fine?
Is each side using different fuse?
Please let me know! Ahhhh~

if i had to take a guess i would say that there is a broken wire behind the driver side door light or u fried somehitng in the light compartment.........the door lights only have 1 fuse........thats my guess

Ok..I even switched the bulb housing with another side! Not working when you put them in driverĄ¯s side.
IĄ¯ve checked the wiring behind the housing and everything and all seem fine.
My guess is that itĄ¯s associated with fuse because it was working just fine then when I trying to put an another bulb it suddenly quit on me.
Hmm.. any other suggestions???

The driver's step light receives 12 volts at all times. Power comes through the same fuse which serves the passenger side step lamp, so it is not a blown fuse. The ground side of the circuit is completed through terminal 16 of the Driver Door Control Unit (Local Control Unit 01). Your symptoms suggest that LCU01 may be "fried".

1) Does the dome light turn on when the driver's door is opened? If not, the driver's door switch may be bad.

2) Remove the step lamp bulb. Use a voltmeter to verify that one of the socket terminals has 12 volts. If not, trace the circuit back toward the fuse block.

3) If 12 volts are present at the step lamp socket, use an ohmmeter to check the other terminal for continuity to ground. If ground is present, try a different bulb. If ground is not present, LCU01 is bad. Replace it.

I think it is okay to leave this unrepaired. If it was my car that is what I would do.

OK.. My dorm light is working fine.
IĄ¯ve checked the voltmeter on each side and driver side door reads 7.1V (bad side)while the passenger side reads 12V (good side).
HmmĄĻ I donĄ¯t know what to do next.
Do I have to open the door trim and trace it thru?
I really need to fix this because this thing is so annoying.

I have this same problem with my passenger side door. I said the hell with it and left it unrepaired as DBM stated.

Someone has remove the door trim panel to gain access to the wiring. Either you do this or pay someone else to do it.

You are going to have to help yourself. You have to trace the circuit from the bulb socket all the way back to the fuse block to find the place where the 12 volts drops to 7 volts. There is no easy way. There is no shortcut.

Burned wires would be a good clue but that is not the only possible problem. You may have a dirty or loose electrical connection. You may have a wire which is broken under the plastic insulation. Superman has X-ray vision, humans don't, so the voltmeter is your best tool for this job.

The wiring harness between the door and the body flexes every time the door opens and closes. There might be a break there. With the voltmeter clipped to the step lamp bulb socket, grab the harness and flex it this way and that. If the meter fluctuates between 7 and 12 volts you have located a problem.

And I thought that i was the only one... I was simply going to run a wire connected to the passager side to the drivers side bulb... but it was too difficult for me to get the wire to go through the boor and body... if you find the solution it would be nice if you could post it...
