Hi everyone,

I've been monitoring this site for a while and now would like to join in.

I got a brand new Black 2K1 SE 5sp AE fully loaded for $34000 Cdn just a few days ago. Actually, there is only one SE model in Canada (being the 20th AE model) and no option available except the auto trans. Tell me if I have a good deal or not.

Overall, I like most of its attributes except some (anyway, I am not here to complain).

Even though I am not an extreme mod. enthusiast, I am already want to mod my new baby to some extent. I need your expertese here:

1. I'd like to tint the windows on the back. Even though they are privacy glass, they don't look like it. I'd also like to tint the rear too. My question is what is the proper number? I think I'd go with 35%; it is neither too black nor too clear to me. How do you think?

2. I am not very happy with the jumppy feeling of the stock suspension over little holes. I want to have a better suspension which could filter out these little things. I also heard that changing/lowering the suspension only makes the ride stiffer. What should I do?

3. I definitely want to get the 2k2 HID headlight on my car. Is there any group deal being setup yet? Know what, my dealer's parts dept. told me that each side of the 2k2 HID headlight would cost ~ $1350 Cdn (you read me right, $2700 Cdn for two sides). What the heck is going on? Can I just order it through Dave B? btw, who is he and what is his contact info?

4. I've also heard about zaino waxxing thing. Is it worth to get it? any group deal?

5. If I don't need to make a turn at 50 mph (~80kph), do I need the FSTB and/or RSB?

that is all I have for now. Sorry if it is too long.

P.S. Ignore this if you already read it at 5th gen max.

Welcome!

I can't answer most of your questions, but I can speak for Zaino. Get it and you'll love it, not to mention the shine it will leave on your new pride and joy!

The FSTB will be noticable changing lanes and what not. It makes the car more "twitchy" or more responsive when changing lanes or turning. The RSB is more for cornering. It may make the car more stiff and rigid going over speed bumps and stuff like that, and from what you have said you do not want it more stiff. If you want a more sport feel to the suspension, the FSTB, then the RSB, then springs and shocks. Any after-market spring/shock combo you get will be more stiff. However, you could throw on some GLE model shocks which are more cushy.

I agree with mdeal about the FSTB. It does make a difference especially at higher speeds. A lot of people say to get the RSB and that it performs great. I say start off with the FSTB and if you want more get the RSB, I my self will be getting one soon. Oh BTW, congrats on the new "toy" and good luck with it!
