I've had a squeal from my brakes ever since I did the original brake change at 30k miles (replaced the pads 4 times under warranty, but it just comes back)...and I've got about 96k miles now; and now I'm about deaf I seem to recall someone saying that the Nissan OEM brakes have a special notch or shim or something that the afermarket pads don't.

Hardware

Did you guys use new hardware (shims, clips and springs)? I did about 5k miles ago when I installed my pads and I have never had them squeal.

The_quorum: Nissan pads have holes in their backing for a spring that Nissan provides in their hardware kit. I belive that spring is to return the pads off the rotors. Either way, its easy to install on aftermarket pads. Just drill a small hole in the pads backing in the same location as on the OEM pads.

Good luck!

I also had my brakes replaced about a year ago and they have been squealing ever since. Multiple people have said they have crystallized or glazed over??? Whatever. I just know they stop the car and have about 50% left on them. I have no idea what kind they are and I didn't do anything except tell the shop to put new ones on. I didn't know about the ORG back then or I would have gotten some good ones and done it myself.
