Konig Tantrum Question

Hey guys!

Does anyone know how well the stock P225/50VR17 Bridestone Potenza RE92 Tires on a 2001 SE fit a 17x8 Konig Tantrum Rim? I'm looking to get new rims but want to keep the stock tires for now and wanted to know how this tire/rim sizing would affect handling/road noise/ etc. I also wanted to know if $149 per rim is a good price for them. Thanks again for all the help.

You should get 235/45 17 tires for the Tantrums because the stock tires suck.

Kev,

I would if I could afford both right now but I want the rims more. Will the fit work with the stock tires and konig rims? Also is $149 a rim a good price?

The sizes are off. Our stock tires are for 7" wide wheels while the Tantrums you want are 17 X 8... not really safe to put those on.

Yeah, $149 is a good price.

Yeah, $149 is a good price.

You can fit a 225 or 235 or 245mm tire on an 8" width with no adverse affects.

For 7" widths, a 205, 215, or 225mm is possible. For 225mm, Nissan should've gone with a 7.5" width.

If you were getting the 18" Tantrums

What are the positives and negatives of putting 225/40/18 vs. 235/40/18. I know that the 225 will be closer to the stock tire diameter, meaning a more accurate speedometer. I'm asking in regards to handling and agility.

Is there a FAQ or thread that addresses this anywhere on the web that you guys know of? I searched, but I'm not finding anything here and the retail web sites are not very helpful.
