40mm. All 4th gen Maximas are 5x114.5 with 40mm offset.

that depends on the wheel and the size. other offsets are 42, 40, 38, 34.

i don't think that's correct. look in the owner's manual. I think the gxe steel wheels are not 40mm offset.

I have 42mm offset, with a 18 X 8 1/2, don't have any problems so far

The "proper" offset depends on the width of the wheel you are using. When you go with a wider wheel, you need less offset.
