Engine Maintence Light

I have a 1998 Maxima GXE. I had a Firestone shop look at my Engine Maintence Light and check it out. They found it to be a problem with a pressure leak somewhere. They said it could even be a loose gas cap. Anyway...they reset the code...but a week later...it came back on. Here is the catch...I have to get my car registered and the emissions won't let it pass with the light on. Is there a way for me to turn off the light so I can get it passed without going to a shop and charging me to turn it off? Any suggestions? What are some good places that will have the technology to actually find the problem that it causing the service engine light to turn on. The shop I go to says they don't have the right equipment.

I GUARANTEE YOU have the right equipment. First off, read the stickys on the top of the thread, the one that says something like "ECU diagnostic codes' is the one you want. ALL that you need is a flta head screwdriver. That's all.

Here's a secret:

Only moderators shown on the "frontpage" for the forums can do anything. Jamie is an administrator, so that power applies everywhere.

BTW, you locked your own post and then an option was un-checked to where members could no longer lock/unlock their own posts.

I still maintain that Kev told on you.

Uh, only 3 people knew about it, why not just put it back on? I guarantee to one else will read this thread and therefore no one will know about it. And remind me to kick Kev's binghole.
