i have no complaint's with the tires you sold to me! BF comp T/A HR4s..much better than stock..dunlop D60A2's are good all around tires also. why not get kumhos ecstas again? they have them in that 16" size..all the tires i mentioned are rather inexpensive. good luck..congrats on your new car!

Bridgestone Potenza RE950s are great, my brother just got a set on his car for $95 each at the local Firestone outlet. I'm going to get a set of those when I replace my tires also.

I put Dunlop SP5000's (225/50/16) on the 97 SE rims. Awesome in dry, okay in rain, anything more than light snow, stay home Oh, $110 in MA.

I have been searching for a bit now. I am currently using 225/50/16 V rated Yoko's and they handle great and ride pretty good. For replacement I am considering the New Yoko Avid DB which has been highly rated by tirerack.com, for a cost of $102 each. Since the Max is such a quiet and good riding sports sedan it would be a shame to put cheap tires on it. I used the same size Dunlop D60a2 or whatever that was on my previous car and the handling was total sh*&. The ride was great, much less harsh than the Pirelli's I pulled off but the rollover on a turn was most unsettling. Once you put the car into a turn you could not be sure when or if the tires would stop rolling, it would really throw the rear end out. I was much relieved to go to the Max and get a much better ride than the Dunlops and handling better than my previous "better" tires.

If you want great info go to the Tire Rack website and do some comparrisons, they have a great comments section by people who drive like us idiots and report back how the tires fare.

I hope this helps.

Dunlop SP-5000 is a nice all-season ultra high performance tire with good snow traction. Get 225/55-16 size. I got them from tirerack 10 months ago for $105 a piece.

Aren't you lucky? The wait is finally over. Good luck with the new system!

I recommend the Pirelli 7000 SS for the all season ultra high performance tire. 225/55/16 for the 97 SE rim.

iwannabmw..... That is the 1st time I heard bad feedback regarding the all season capabilities of the sp5000's That sucks, I'm now confused.... It seemed like the best all season tire period. Rated high in snow, wet and dry with a quiet ride and good thread wear.
Well, I had a set of 225/50/16 Sumitomo HTR 4's on rims practically the same size as the 97 5spokes... The traction was awsome in dry, very good in wet, snow I haven't tried yet.. but they were a bit noisy... 72$ from tirerack..

Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus

I got the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus on my car recently and I think so far they are great. I had them put on and the next day was terenchal(sp?) downpours. You in Mass know the kind I mean we can get out of nowhere. Like the other day. And these handled incredible. Where the water was deep and running hard people were going atout 25 or so and I was handling at least 50 still without a problem. Well worth it I think.
