Trade?
Trade?
I want to do a auto to five speed conversion, and I am just wondering if anyone would do a even trade with me? I'll give everything you need for auto transmission and the person who is willing to trade gives me everything that will make my car run with 5 speed. I am willing to pay extra is needed.

Even the proverbial 65-year-old man down the street with the 5-speed Maxima that could enjoy the fruits of an automatic transmission at his age wouldn't want to do this.
If I was "stuck" with an auto maxi somehow, I'd make the best of it...pimp-mobile. Bumpin stereo, a few minor pimp-ish touches without going over the top, and cruisin' leaned back far enough to be right there to say 'wassup' to tha ho'z kickin it in the back seat...

(I wouldn't try to make it fast or anything. An automatic maxi with performance mods that tries to race often = sin to the road in my automobile canon. But to each his own!)

Here is some USEFULL information (not like all of these other post ho's) <grin>
Check out http://www.car-part.com
You can search by locality. I was about to do the conversion myself and found a 5-speed with LSD in Ft. Walton Beach, FL (a 5 hour drive for me) for $700. You may have luck making a trade with the salvage yard.
FWIW, I had a shop give me a quote on fixing or replacing my A/T. They told me that the salvage yards in the area wanted $1400 for a used auto tranny with "unknown" milage.
