Electrical issues still discharging overnight
so my battery is still discharging overnight and i am still trying to figure out why. i have already ruled out my subs and amps ubut aside from that no luck yet. i have been unhooking the negative terminal overnight so the bat doesnt discharge but last night i forgot and ended up being late for work. i really need to fix this issue soon.
someone suggested that i test for amperage draw and then start disconnecting things to see whats causing the unusual draw. i want to try this but i dont know how. i have a multimeter and but i am not sure how i am supposed to connect it to measure amperage draw. can anyone give me some step by step directions on how to do that? the draw is really high, my bat was at 4volts after being connected all night when it was full charged the night before. any suggestions on what to check first?

To measure current (amp) draw you need to remove the positive or negative lead from your battery and connect your meter in series. One lead of your meter is connected to the battery and the other lead of your meter is connected to the lead you removed from the battery. That way any current that flows from the battery to your electrical circuits has to flow through you meter. From previous posts it was determined that when your Maxima is just sitting it should draw about 200-90milli amps. Thats 0.2 or 0.09 Amps (not very much). If you open the door activating a light it will draw more, when opening a window it may draw 7.5Amps.
You need to check your just sitting there current draw if it is much above the 0.09 amps you probably have a problem. You would than need to start removing fuses under your dash and see if pulling any particular fuse makes a big difference. Of course if you have a door open and the lights on the current draw will increase. So I would pull one fuse at atime than close the door and check my measurement. of course this will only help to narrow the possibilities. Hope this helps.

I was going to say alternator as well. I would test to see if it is charging the battery. I had the same issue with my 3rd gen just last week where it was running just on the battery alone and the car shut off on me. Put a new optima in her and she was just running on battery alone with no charge going to battery.
If the current draw is normal (approximately 90ma with everything off) than the alternator is a possibility. But if current draw is well above normal than that will need to be eliminated. Certainly would not hurt to get the alternator tested.
problem resolve
the battery of my car drained on the night, after many tries, i discover that when i disconnected my battery and recconect, i heard a sound like something switching, i follow the sound and go to the relays zone and see that the one of them activate alone when the battery is connected, i remove these relay (was the relay of claxon) and my problem was resolve.
Check for the switches and relays and see if something is activate or hot.

I had this same trouble one time years ago. After putting up with this a week or so I had my brother, a mechanic, check it out with his ampmeter. He checked the amp draw across the fuses in the fuse box and discovered that it was the trunk light staying on that caused my problem. You would have to remove each fuse and check across the terminal of the fuse holder (series) with the ampmeter. Good luck.
