Just wonder if this is worth doing. I just got into a suspension class in school and the guy wants us to bring in our cars and work on them. So i want to keep a stock ride quality but lower atleast 1.5", and im sorta on a budget. I would be replacing the stock struts, just so everything is fresh.

O, also get 17" rims at the same time if it matters.

 

Your stock struts will blow with any aftermarket lowering springs. If you are going to replace your stock struts anyways, and have to take everything apart, why not do it right to begin with. I know money is tight, but some hp blues or gr2 or shouldnt cost much more than stock.

 

HP Blues or GR2, k. Hate to bug but any idea where or who carries them. I tried ebay and saw like just fronts or just rears but couldnt find front and rear of either. I was estimating all around replacement of stocks would cost ~$200. Anybody else done this and could say what they paid for either HP's or GR2. BTW, i thought stock is GR2, mine on my car say GR2 right on them?!?! Its an SE.

 

I've been told that the hp's are the factory replacements, could be wrong though. Ebay has the gr2 for $239, and the hp's for $269

 

The HP (blues) and the GR2's are stock replacements.

 

If your struts are silver/grey then you have KYB GR2. They are stiffer than stock and will handle H techs fine. Many buy them as they are the cheapest decent damper.

Stock are Tokico, black with NISSAN stamped on them. Blues are as close to stock as you can get. They are a bit more money than the GR2, but much softer.
