I took out my spare tire and jack...Front tires at 20PSI, and rears at 45PSI.
My first run was a 14.94 @ 92 mph. My next run was a 15.45 Ha! After that I ran consistent 14.9's the rest of the night. I shifted my car manually from 1-3, and it seemed that I got a quicker 1-2 shift than what the tranny does itself. The 2-3 shift feels the same. All in all it was a fun night. I'm hooked! I'm going again soon. Is 14.9 typical for a stock auto? Any tips? Here's my best time slip in a nutshell.
RT - .725
60 - 2.3
1/8 - 9.66
1/4 - 14.91
MPH - 93.19

 

That's a pretty nice time for a stock auto I would say, plenty of room for improvement too if you can cut your 60' time down!

 

Hold the brake and gas to launch it. Put your tires at 25 in the front i don't think autos need that low psi. Did you do any weight reduction? Simple things like back seat removal.

 

Good runs for the night. That 60ft could be a 2.2 which will give you a 14.7-14.8. Your 25psi might give more drag in the high end. Try 30psi! Nice job!

 

Thanx for the comments and tips. Next time I'll do more weight reduction, and up my front tire's psi. Should I let the auto shift itself, or manually shift it as I did?

 

Manually shifting is better for you car. But you should try both just to see. I believe you can shift closer to redline if you manually shift it. I know the 03 Maxima SE I rented I had to manually shift it to 6500rpm otherwise it would upshift around 6000rpm. Is that how yours is?

 

I leave at idle with my tire psi at 15 to 17psi

 

Yeah, my auto shifts at 6K. That's why I manually shifted it. I'll have to try both ways to see if there's any real difference at the track.

 

Thats because your your putting down some good power. His car is not putting out that much and 15 to 17 is way too low.. unless he neutral drops it like i do my auto .

Nice times! Yeah ill agree with the rest 20psi is too low for the fronts. Id try bumping it up to 25-30psi. Try that, pull the spare, jack, trunk carpet, rear seat, pass seat if its simple.

Id remove mine, but being power with side airbags, its just too much work for me.

 

4 bolts and 3 connectors is too much?

 

Yeah, pay it off. My wife and I just bought it a few months ago. I'll add little performance mods here and there until its payed off. Then who knows. I'm not one for visual mods or stereos. I plan on taking it to the track more and more to try to beat my times.

 

Too much to maybe pick up a 10th at the track if you ask me, I wouldn't consider removing anything like this when running a car that spends 99.9% of it's time on the street as a real vehicle and not a dedicated race vehicle.

 

I'm curious how quick I can get my stock car. The next time I go to the track I'm taking out all that is reasonably possible. To me that includes the passenger seat, rear seat, spare tire, jack, and trunk carpeting. To me its reasonable if I can take it out and be able to put it back in within about an hour. That's just me.
