Bosch Premium. Built like a Mobil 1 filter but half the price. (They were in fact identical, but last year Mobil1 updated a little bit. Whether the Mobil1 actually got any better is not clear)

I'll be using Purolator Pure One PL14610 on the Maxima and my wife's new Subaru since they are interchangeable.

It is common knowledge on this website to avoid Fram.

Made in Mexico, cardboard end caps, poorer filtration. Need I say more!

I use the Purolator PureOne. I'd get the OEM but I usually like to change my oil on a whim when it's about time and stop at the local parts store to pick up a filter.

The only 3 filters I'd use are:
OEM Nissan
Purolator Pureone
Mobil M-110

If the oil level is high enough to reach the crankshaft, it breaks down into a foam. Foam does not protect the engine.

Don't buy the OEM 9E000 any more, they are now poor quality and have cardboard end caps as well.

It seems that Fram Tough Guard is very cheaply made compared to others in the price range such as Purolator Premium, Supertech, ACDelco, and STP.

It does not mean that using them will make your engine die sooner. It's just that the cheap way they are made makes them more prone to failure.

Fram Tough Guard and especially Extended Guard filters are very well regarded in build quality.

It seems to me that using a good oil filter is akin to using a good condom.

Better to be safe than sorry!

k... if u love Fram... go head...
One day... when u changing oil for some car with a bad oil filter spot, and u cant see the o-ring contact surface, and u forgot feel it with yr fingers.... u might have a BIG problem....
because the previous "HIGH QUALITY FRAM" o-ring sticked on that contact surface, and u did not realize da you doubled the o-ring when u put yr new oil filter on....

OIL EVERYWHERE is what u will get in return.......

That experience is good enough to ban Fram in my life...

not to mention the blah blah end cap... whatever....

just compare the O-ring with yr OEM filter...
then price: $ 6.99CDN(no washer ) $ 8.59CDN (washer included)
less then $3 difference... u decide...

This is the filter I'm now using. I still have one Nissan OEM filter left, but Nissan has cheapened the construction of this filter, and I will buy no more of them.

The M-110 is larger than the OEM filter and needs about 1/2 a quart more motor oil to fill the engine oil sump to the full level.

Amsoil, M1 or K&N. The K&N and Mobil filters are basically the same filter.
