Anyways coming back from getting an oil change I see this silver GTP on the highway passing by me really fast. So of course seeing that the car is not gonna be with me I drop the automagic into second and start gaining on him. I finally shifted into "D" and left his *** behind me.

GTP maybe fast off the line.
Slower then an automagic maxima on the high end.
But always a good run

BTW, you guys should never be afraid to race a GTP or a Regal GS. I saw a guy with a Regal GS at a gas station a few nights ago filling up with 87 OCTANE!!

With the S/C the knock sensors and engine controllers were probably working overtime to prevent that sucker from knocking and probably killed all of the power such that it was less than an NA 3800 S2

Do not fear a GTP/GS. Let's just say that the drivers are not always the smartest people

i test drove a 98 or 99(cant remember which) GTP, and the speedometer only went up to 110mph or so, i almost crapped my pants, i thought there is no way thats the top speed. however, that car was very quick feeling at low speeds, unless the driver of a GTP wasn't at full throttle or they were just retarded, i dont see them losing to a automatic max(in a 0-60, top end, no contest), but its a different story for the 5 speeds, especially up top. so i believe yongjun when he says he beat a GTP on the highway.

he said that he ran on the highway, so i assumed he raced at high speeds, which the GTP has none. but, in a 0-60 run, a GTP should be able to beat an auto max, the max has better top end though. i'm sorry i didn't make that clear.

maybe he ran a GTP running 87, *if* I remembered correctly, if u put anything below 91 in, the S/C shuts off. Or it could be a GT with GTP badge. Or maybe he really is faster.

I have a friend whose 6'2, weighing 300lb. He was gonna buy IS300, Ford Focus or RSX Type-S. The reason why hes gonna buy those cars is because he couldn't drive and damaged his transmission twice.

yeah, I was really close to getting a GTP when my family brought the max, I know a lot abt those! I was sure I wanted that car, but the deal was crap, the dealer didn't want to give us a good discount, all they gave us was like 1000 off MSRP and the nissan dealer gave us like $4000 off so we went with the max.

As for the race, stock GTP's aren't the fastest things in the world, I'd even say I would put my money on a auto max, GTP vs Max Top end run. One of my buddies with a modded GTP handed a '98 cobra its *** on the highway, that guy gave us thumbs up when he turned off, he was very surprised. My friend has an aftermarket ECU, which allows downshifts at higher speeds where the stock ECU would not. That was done with about $400 worth of mods (smaller pully, aftermarket downpipe/no CAT, CAI, various low $$ tweaks). GTP's can be made pretty fast on the highway, just takes a little more work than making it fast off the line.

In short, yes it is possible, yes it probably happened, good run.
