I have a '97 maxima auto that i brought in for a tranny rebuild at 188k miles. The transmission started feeling strange about 7k miles later- from a stop wouldn't catch at all untill 1800 sometimes 3000 rpms then it would catch HARD, after a while it was slipping consistantly in 1st and 2nd. Also the car sometimes has trouble in the mornings with the converter locking and stalling the car at a stop. The clutch packs and converter were replaced under waranty 3k miles ago. I will be bringing the car back in tomorrow for the same symtoms and am wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be so that i can point the guy in the right direction. I am thinking it has something to do with whatever device controls pressure to the converter? the car has only suspension mods and is not raced so driving is not afactor. any help would be apreciated

check the fluid.. i would never have an auto trans rebuild cuz people dont know how to do it correctly... get a used one from the junk yard..

or mine i have 10k miles on it... im swapping to a manual... trans is PERFECT shape..

 

How much? I just picked up a 97 SE over the weekend... It shifts a little hard going into second.

well... i dunno $300 bucks but i have to wait till i get this 5 speed done this weekend.. i need to make sure this 5 speed works correctly first....
