*RESOLVING* Zerocool23: $500 Ksports

I recently bought some Ksports from him. He claimed that they had only been used for about 3K miles, 6 months. Since then, they were taken off and sat around his garage for a while. So, I bought them. He had great communication, and everything. All was fine. Until recently I noticed that two of them were blown(less than 500 miles of highway after putting them on). I sent him a message on September 26th saying:

If what you told me is correct, that they were only used for 6 months, 3000 miles, then they should not be blown. Is this right? I would like to get them rebuilt. That is $120 per strut. $500 + $240 = $740. For that price, I could have almost bought a set of brand new Ksports. This is becoming a bit of a hassle, and I would like to get it resolved as soon as possible. I know that its technically all on me, but if the information you gave me regarding wear and use was inaccurate, then I never would have bought them with the suspicion that one or more may be blown. Anyhow, I would appreciate it if you got back to me on this matter.

Thank you, Kyle.

Now, I know you are probably saying "Well, he has not signed in since you sent him the message". But, if he gets email notifications, then he can read the message first, without logging in to the forums.

His communication before and during the purchase was great. He was nice, shiped on time and all. It seems that he lied about the use of the product, and isnt going to do anything about it. Poor customer service, and worst of all, despicable integrity.

I hope to see a happy ending. I know I want one. Im not asking for full compensation, but the fact that I paid $500 for what I thought was a set of Ksports used for 3K, and then having to pay for new struts? No way.

Have you contacted KSport?

They might cover them if they are under a year old.

I bought them because 3K miles on coilovers should do nothing. They would be fine if 3K was all they were used for.

They are more than a year old.

when are people going to learn that Ksports are garbage when they're new and total junk once they're used.

Hope it works out for you though and you can get him to resolve the issue.

Buying used suspension is always a risk. From the sounds of it, since you have 500 miles on them, they were fine when installed. 500 miles is not a long time, but if they were fine initially they werent blown. And 3k miles can trash a suspension depending on use. If he drives anything like some people i know, 3k can be 15k.

In any event, i really think the most you could ask is for him to go 50/50 with you on the cost to have them repaired, but i dont think i could fault him for declining.

The only indication that I have that they are blown is the bouncy ride and the leaking oil. They werent as bouncy (as they are now) when first installed(but the ride was not good), but within a week, say 100 miles or so, they were as bouncy as now. I noticed the oil the next time I had the wheels off, about 2 weeks after install. My guess is that the seals got hard and damaged over the time they sat idle. Then When they were installed, it took a bit before the seals started leaking again, for everything to come out of dormancy.

I am hoping for a resolution. I would actually prefer a return(for Koni + GC), but if he wants to reimburse me for repair instead, I wouldnt complain.

I would add his aim screenname to your buddy list incase he hops on. A full refund wouldnt be likely to happen i dont think, but going 50/50 on repairs seems fair if hes willing to do it. As long as the car is still driveable, and you can take it easy on it for a little bit, i wouldnt rush a paypal claim or anything but rather give him time to respond.

Damn man sorry about your situation. I remember back in 2006 he was selling those under a different SN. In the pics they looked way rusted. Anyway hope your issue gets resolved.

Guys, lets keep our opinions on the product itself out of the thread and just deal with the actual issue.

Thanks.

Yes, they were rusted. The picture didnt convey that as much. However, I cleaned a LOT of it off. I was down to where I could have painted the springs black again, but decided not to. The weather isnt very abusive here, and you dont really see them so I figured I wouldnt. The rust was the least of my worries when I found out that two of them were blown.

Still have gotten no reply. I sent another pm with a link to this thread, for some more repercussions, etc...guess it didnt work. I do have his phone number, should I call him? Is it a good idea? Calling him would bring it to his door step, almost as something he couldn't avoid, I think.

MESSAGE SENT!

i have not been on this site since i sold him the coilovers hence why i never heard anything about this problem...he should have called me since that is why i gave him my phone # ...

and to reply to :

"Now, I know you are probably saying "Well, he has not signed in since you sent him the message". But, if he gets email notifications, then he can read the message first, without logging in to the forums."

i never got a notification...i dunno if my notifications were turned off in my profile or my yahoo account sent them straight to my spam folder (which i think is what happened) but either way...when u get a email from maxima.org it does not give u the PM it just says u have a new PM so i was in no way avoiding or ignoring any problems here...

i sent him a very long and detailed message and just wanted everyone to know im working on fixing the problem. thanks everyone

hope you didn't leave sharp marks on the strut shafts that'll cause them to damage the seals and break/ leak oil
