Dallas Taillight Mod

I was planning on doing the Dallas Taillight mod this weekend. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and what your input is. Also, i was wondering about the glue that holds the lens on.

After I heat up the taillight and put the lens back on, do I need to apply more glue or whatever it is or is there enough on there. I dont want any leaks or condensation. Thanks a lot.

hell no you don't have to add more glue. that **** is sticky as hell son. i messed up some lucky jeans doin that. my best advice is use a heat gun and high temp paint. it's a really simple deal and makes a huge diff

i went from red/ clear

to traditional DTMs

Then I slapped some tint on em

+1 ^^^ on the advice about glue. No additional glue is necessary.

Just follow the DTM instructions on VQpower.com and you'll be just fine.

I put them in the oven at 175 degrees for 3 minutes to seperate, then again to put back together.

For DTM, the paint you bought will work just fine. Heat will be next to nothing as the turn signals are not on all the time.

hey ted, what did you use to tint them. I tint tail lights daily for people but i use a brand called rikochet and it's like a clear bra material. Did you use regular tint? they look clean though, i checked them out up close when you were at work and sw your car...

Finiashed Product

I did these last friday. When I put the lenses back on i noticed that I could see the Bulbs in the housing. Something I did not think about. I think it wud look better with clear/rads done with this mod. I still like them though......

Here is the finished product:

Yup after doing the tailights I noticed how easy it was, so I went ahead and did my headlights too. Just follow the instructions on Vqpower.com

Quick pic of the 5th gen that i did...

DTM FTW

Wish I could do that with my 95/96's, but it looks like I'll hafta just settle for doing a light tint on the signal's and b/u lights.

damn i think that is the first time i've actually liked the *** end of a maxima completely shaved. well done. and about the bulbs idea i painted my signal lights black with the same paint. i had an extra pair so i didn't care if they got ruined. turned out really cool. not the best light output (go figure) but was bright enough and did the job

In relation to tail light talk, I recently purchased the Ebay LED tails for the 4th gen maxima, and I need help with a wiring project. My goal is to rewire the tails so that the led rings will serve (in addition to the parking and brake lights) as the turn signals also. I also want to rewire the turn signal bulb sockets to run in conjunction with the reverse lamps so that in the end I will have 4 reverse lamp bulbs, instead of turn signals in the outsides. I kno I need some relays i just need help knowing where and how to wire them. Thanks for your help.

It's really just a pain in the a$$ to do that. Requires running the wires all different places and relays and all. Get rid of the altezzas. Otherwise you need a relay to connect the brake lights to and run the blinker wire to the relay to turn off power to the brakes when you need them as blinkers. The turn signals just need to be wired to the reverse lights.

what do you mean retro tail lights? Like real LED tails that some of us made? Nobody will have some laying around haha. You can ask someone to make them. One guy on here is making them and hoping to sell them but his style is not the same as Wizards, or mine in my link. He has many leds instead of individual lines. Depends what you want and how much you'll pay. I might be willing to make a set but it will cost over $300 because of time involved.

^^ No sir, you cannot. The orange is the actual lens on the 95-96 tails.
