Anyone put their floormats in a washing machine?

My floormats are almost black from dirt
i was wondering i could just throw them in a washing machine - or do i have to handwash them down by the river like some 12th century peasant

Haha yeah I just laughed out loud in the library at my school... people are staring..

If you do wash by hand, I've heard dish soap works quite well.. or laundry detergent

us a pressure washer..(i took mine to those public car washes)... use clothing detergent, and a real rough brush, and scrub the **** out of them... then wash them down... (i would recommend for you to hang them)

Only one way to find out...

Although I'd only really recommend putting one of the small rear ones in first, to see what happens to it.

Ive put my floormats into the washing machine twice already. They are still perfectly fine and clean.

I hang mine at the carwash and blast them, usually does the job. Youre not gonna make them new again...

Yeah my washing machine broke once from doing floormat's, at least that's what my mom claims Because it crapped out the next day :Hide: But now I just do it at a laundromar and pay the $3.50 it costs, the lady there doesn't mind at all But yeah, I used to pressure wash them before I discovered the washing machine, it works SICK! I spray them down with oxy clean and give them a quick scrub and then spray them down w2iht oxiclean again so it can soak in for about 20 minutes before washing. IT WORKS SOOOOO AWESOME!! I detail peoples cars every now and than and they're always so shocked at how nice the floormats come out, you'll be amazed especially if you use oxi-clean to treat the stains first.

Hang said mats on fence. Spray using Tide or other household laundry detergent. I actually have tossed them in the machine. Made the upper rim nice and black FTL.

Floor mats ... who needs floor mats? lol I bought a new Accord in 97 (before I found out about Maximaz !!!!) and took the mats out the day I got it. Put them back in when I sold the car after 103k on it ... buyer never even knew to look under them. hahahah ... they were still brand new! But ... since that is not the case here, I like others take mine to the car wash - I use a mix of Tide and dish soap, then scrub them with a brush to get them extra clean. Rinse and you're done.

Like people said, your floor mats will be clean, but supposedly the washing machine craps up (says my mother).

Laundromat seems like a good idea, ill use that =D.

I use this same process and it works pretty friggin well!! Oxi-clean works wonders, I accidently got dirty motor oil on my mats while changing my oil, and got it out with oxi and dish soap!

I've cleaned my factory mats (front and rear) once or twice a year in my home washer and dryer with ZERO problems - either to my washer and dryer OR mats - for the past 13 years.

The mats still look (almost) brand new.

i put some tide on the problem spots. let it sit. then throw it in hot cycle with some detergent. works fine. and looks new

and it wont break your washing machine. i dont even know where people get that idea.

i work at a car dealership cleaning cars alll day.... and the best way ive found to clean out foormats is to get a highly concentrated degreaser or soap, and with a pressure washer spray the mats to get them wet then spray on the soap. after that you wanna go up on the grain of the mat to get at the roots(base) of the fabric, you will have almost new floormats if they dont have any holes in it. once done cleaning them use a ice scraper for your car and run it down the mats while they are hanging and it will get the rest of the water out of them.

I use Walmart/ Sams club all weather rubber mats over my factory ones. Even color matched them. Saved one of the back ones from an almost ready to explode Dr. Pepper. Mine still look pretty much like brand new

FTMF! That made me spit out my water!

I personally would just buy new ones if they got too dirty. Or a washer machine works wonders....

I got tired of trying to clean mine so I scooped up some where I was working at, they are husky liners. Meant for truck/suv but hey they were free. 4 piece kit. My frequent trips to the beach during the summer and other oddball stuff makes me love these mats more each day

I used oxyclean, and then put them in my bathtub where I abused them with detergent and hot water. They got about 50% cleaner. Off to the laundromat.
