New axle= vibration through gas pedal?
New axle= vibration through gas pedal?
I'm sorry, I know this isn't the 'correct' forum for this, but nobody with brains ever goes into the General forum.
Today I had a new Raxle axle put in after a tow truck ripped my old CV boot. On my way home from the mechanics shop, I realized that there was a faint vibration coming though the gas pedal when I gave it gas, and only when it's in gear, accompanied by a little vibrating noise. The shop drained a bit of tranny fluid to do the axle, and they said they replaced it all. Could some contaminated/dirty fluid they put back in the tranny cause this?
Since it only seems to happen when the car is in gear and when I give it gas, I believe it may have something to do with the tranny, but I really have no idea.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

mine vibrated like that when i put a non-abs axle in my car but that was only because I took the abs ring off the old axle and put it on the non abs one thinking that would work. talk to the shop that put it in and see if thats what they did. Raxles might have accidentally sent you the wrong axle and the shop figured they could make it work.
and the reason for it vibrating like that is because having the ABS ring from an ABS axle on a non-ABS axle causes the CV joint to compress too tight together and will eventually wear a whole in the boot.
Well I ordered an ABS axle from Raxles, so I'm trying to figure out what could have happened. I guess the only way is if Raxles sent a non-ABS unit and my shop took the ring off the old one and installed it like you did. How did you get the ring on/off?
I will call Raxles tomorrow and double check that they sent me the right one. What can I do if they say they sent the right one? I can't afford to pay for 3 axles installs....

I just did this 3 days ago.. I have a non-abs model maxima and all i had to do was use a hammer and chisel to lightly tap off the rings. Is it possible that they didnt secure the support on the passenger side axle?? Theres a support about halfway down the shaft that uses 3 screws to hold it in. I would definitely double check on the tranny fluid level. Good luck man

I called Raxles today and they said they sent me an ABS axle, and that it's nearly impossible for them to have sent me an axle with a bad inner joint. Apparently the next step is for me to return my old axle, and they will measure it to make sure the one they sent me is the same length.
I would also like to take it back to the shop that did the install and tell them that they need to fix this problem because it wasn't like this before, but I don't want to pay for more installation labor.
I'm so damn confused

Luke: Did you change anything on your car before that happened to you? I drove my car once again and I couldn't really notice the vibration in first or second gear, but it was more noticeable in third or higher. To go with the mild vibration, it feels/sounds like there is just added friction somewhere in the drivetrain....I have no idea what is going on with this thing.
It all started happening when I loosened my suspension to adjust the camber (camber bolts) and went in for an alignment. The shaking became more apparent although the alignment guy never touched the side that I adjusted(no tq down). May be my strut is loose at the spindle, car pulls back and forth when going on and off the brake really quick
Just a quick question....I had the car up on a lift about to install another axle, but decided to wait. I did however get a pic of my shift linkage which has also had bad vibrations for a while. Am I missing any bracket? The gray stuff above everything is sound deadening material I applied from inside the car. Am I supposed to have anything else down there?
