It will not affect it if:

1. You use wire with equal or better resistive properties ( ie awg and resistance/capacitance per foot ) I'm pretty sure Nissan used regular wire.

2. You make clean solder joints. Just use high quality silver solder if u want to be sure. (radio shack can help the finer grade low rosin core is what you want)

3. You don't reverse the polarity by chance.

If you want to verify everything is ok when you do it. Get your hands on a multimeter (radio shack can help with a digital model for around $40). Switch the meter to measure voltage. Make small cuts in the wires going to the sensor. Attach the leads in PARALLEL and observe the voltage readings (may need to rev the car one or two times to get some sort of operating voltage range. Record the values and test conditions and repeat the readings after your extension is in place. It should only vary by 10s of mV (millivolt).

I agree...

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you use QUALITY wire and soder the connections.

Kev,

Are you going to make the intake a CAI down into the bumper? That would be the best setup as far as decreasing intake air temps goes.

Can you email me your *.log and *.dat files from an OBD scan you took while driving, so I can see what kind of MAF, MAP, IAT, and trim values your running? Thanks.

Yes, I'm going to route the intake piping through the hole (next to the washer fluid filler piece.

I have Jane's OBD scan files (haven't done any on mine yet. Want her files instead?

No thanks on Jane's files, since I'm not sure what kind of differences there is between the 4th and 5th gen. When you scan yours let me know.

Just incase you didn't know. With the OBD software(Alex Peppers), you can record several runs and then play them back anytime. This may help you see if ANY adjustments to fuel pressure, intake routing, fuel octane, etc.. make any real difference. I still haven't figured everything out yet, but one day this could help with tuning.

I'm going to do some runs with my Stillen Intake vs. Stock vs. Stock w/Fuel Cut TSB vs. SI w/Fuel Cut TSB to see what differences there is in IAT, MAF, and LOAD. Hopefully, I can prove/disprove what the SI and TSB actually do for performance.

I wish I had more time to play with the scan tool and get some useful data.....

A neat trick I learned for 5-speeds...

The OBD-port underneath the steering wheel unsnaps from the metal holder, so you can move it over to the fuse panel. It makes it a lot easier to drive and use the clutch, since the OBD-plug and serial cable aren't blocking the way.
