300zx brakes size

Hey so I've got this 3rd gen, and I'm likely going to get rid of it but I remember the previous owner said he had put on 300zx brakes, and I assumed he was bs'ing me, but I do notice my 4th gen I just got seems to have weaker brakes than the 3rd gen did so maybe he wasn't. Anyway, does anyone know what the difference in brake disc diameter is for a 300zx disc vs the stock 3rd gen? Just looking for a quick way to identify what I have on there.

Thanks

Look inside the front wheels.
3 and 4 gen have the same front brakes from the factory. 4th gen rears are only slightly larger than 3 gen rears.

it will be painfully obvious by looking if your 3 gen has bigger brakes.

also keep in mind that a simple brake pad change can have a dramatic effect on the overall braking.

M'effin..

Brake pads are everything when it comes to good brakes, but also keep in mind that the best brakes in the world are useless unless you have a high quality tire to grab the road along with your high quality brake pads..

If they are 300zx, and if you're planning to remove the brakes before getting rid of the car, I'd like the first place in line to buy them from you.

I have to say I like the 3rd gen body, the one I have though is pretty high kms (210k miles) and the suspension and exhaust is wrecked, so I was reluctant to sink money into it.. also the only options I believe it has is auto climate control and ...hmm variable intermittent wipers?..it's a GLX I believe and auto tranny , which may be starting to go... that's all I can think of.. now if it had been a nice condition sunroofed 5spd SE, I would have likely kept it and restored. Maybe I'll get another 3rd as a project car.. I'm still trying to decide if I'll use the 4th gen as a daily driver/summer car and maybe get a small cheap old 4x4 for dead of winter/hauling.. or use the 4th gen 3 season and find some little coupe project car for summer cruising.. or just get a 3rd gen to fix up and sell to friends to get them hooked on Max's ..then they can pay me 1/2 dealer rates to work on their cars.. and buy parts I've found at the auto wreckers.. mwahah..

it's a GXE....but the rear 300ZX (Z31) rotors are 12", while stock maxima rotors are 11". The front rotors, if the 300zx caliper conversion was done, will be 13" mustang cobra rotors, or depending on the kit 2005 maxima rotors. As said before, you'll know if you have em.

he could also have stock 300ZX rotors milled down to fit and bolt the calipers onto the stock mounting points....
