Proposed group buy with a twist, TMS

Good Morning,
Looking for feedback regarding a different twist on a group buy. It seems the biggest drawback on our chassis braces is getting them installed correctly and at a decent price. Most shops have never done anything like this and so we believe tend to overcharge for services.

Here is how we propose to get it done for less money and get it welded on right:

There would be a club group buy of 12-15 braces, this would include 3rd,4th,5th, 6th, Gen Maxima, Altima and the B15 Sentra. The member who sets up the group buy would get a free set. He/she would coordinate with us in finding a local shop with 4 post hoist to do a group install. This shop would be rented by your local club. Sean would then fly to your city, and work with your group, helping you prepare your cars, and making sure the shop welded these on correctly. You would actually do the work after Sean has shown how to correctly grind off the undercoating, and assisted the welder. He would be the catalyst to get it all done correctly. Sean thinks it would take around 30 minutes of hoist/welding time for each car, if they were prepped correctly before hand.
We think this provides a potential answer to the dilemma many face. Please provide us with feedback. Nothing is written in stone and we are ready to listen to you on this. Granted it is a little crazy but it gives us a chance to meet many of you and you will get your chassis bracing welded on correctly. Besides it is damn cold here in the winter!! We are especially looking for groups in Florida, Texas and California.

sounds like a great idea, but I'm afraid you're going to have a hard time getting 12+ people in any given area to sign up. I hope I'm wrong though.

If you find enough buyers in the Houston area (and are maybe considering building some more on other Nissans/Z cars as well), I'm good friends with a Z shop owner on the NE side of Houston and can get you connected with him.

I'm going to have to agree with Matt. However, if there is a considerable amount of interest, there are hundreds of exhaust shops w/ the proper lift to do the install here in SoCal.

group buy

Well guy's you may be correct but there are huge groups out east, and in most big cities. Many actually have bigger monthly meetings than the total # or cars at Chicago's Maxus of 07! We realize that the welding is the biggest hurtle, so we think it might help to actually have one of us supervise the installs.
We think if you combine the 3rd Gen Altima, B15 Sentra, (soon to be B13 Sentra) as well as all the Generations Maximas that it is not an insurmountable number to acheive. Best of all, some lucky guy, will be getting his set for free. All he has to do is get the guys lined up and then email us. Thanks for looking. OK, who wants a free set for a little phone and leg work????? Dan TMS

chassis brace group buy

aventerav and Nightkid08, thanks for responding. Remember we are negotiable on all aspects of this potential group install. The Dodge diesel boys I hang out with several times a year do this kind of a meet to help members who are as not mechanically inclined install chips, exhaust systems and springs, and adjust timing on the Cummins. We kicked around the idea of doing this at next years Maxus, but there are so many things to do, not sure I want to be lying on the ground wire brushing off undercoating! Perhaps the day before Maxus starts????
Be sure to reach out to the Altima and Sentra crowd. Our B13 brace will be available in 2 weeks or less, these guys have been crying for them. We think that doing this once will inspire other Nissan groups to try it.

since I have the original WSP prototype setup on my VE, I don't need another set.. and I don't have the time to spend drumming up business for someone else... but if you need someone in Houston to line you up with a competent Nissan shop, let me know.

Thanks Matt, we have had a few nibbles. If this doesn't work out, as we add more cars, we will try again. Or perhaps at Maxuss I can talk Sean into working while Mike and I play.
We are really excited about our collaboration with the MN Safety Center. Who knows we may need to redesign the whole system if testing shows that the braces need to be in a different spot.

alicious and Maxima112 and others, we appreciate your interest. The next step for you would be to get at least 12 guys signed up. Having the Sentra, Altimas, and others (don't want to say too much until released) will make it easier to get 12. Once you have that we can move into the next phase which would be finding a shop and a date to do it. My guess is there will be a month or so lag time but it could go quicker.
Email or PM us if you have more questions.

DAMN it. I'd be ALL over this if I hadn't already bought a set and spent $220 to install them.
