anyone one ever sell a car on ebay ??
anyone one ever sell a car on ebay ??
Im sellin my 2k2 maxima, local im having no luck, ppl want auto and as soon as they hear its 6mt they lose intrest, and the potential buyers i have end up short on cash or are denied a loan cause they are young and etc...
I already have a new car, and kind just want to get rid of the maxima already.
And im gettin sick of people test driving and calling to see the car, when it seems like they dont realy have money.
Im thinking of puttin it on ebay, i have sold lots of small inexpensive stuff on ebay before. But nothing this expensive
Plus after the crap i just went through sellin my 240 i dont wanna deal with it really....
any one wanna give me any advise ??
yay or nay with ebay?

I have sold around 5 cars on ebay, and it goes smooth if you are smart about it. Make sure to include a lot of pics, and a good description. Make sure you request an almost immediate deposit though, so that way you at least have a deposit even if the deal falls through to cover your time and cost for listing on ebay.

cool , i was plaing on making a vid of the car running and driving an iv got loads of pics ...
what does the cost end up being if lets say i sell the car for ~8 k ?
I wouldn't sell that max I ,would keep it on the side or garage it. I would keep it as my back up,if the other car goes down the max can come in handy. If your selling it in e-bay make sure you have some agreement rule quoting This is going to be a (AS-IS) sale, because some people don't want modded cars. Good luck.
just part the whole thing out haha jk. Try to make it look back to stock, i know its hard. But when i was looking for a car if i noticed it was modified i did not really did not want to bother with it because i would think its been pushed hard. That would help "older people" to look at it can call and make a sale.
What about the price? I have a friend who wants to sell his 2004 ES350 for anything more than Edmund's TMV trade-in price. Possible on ebay? How about CarMax? Their commercial says they'll buy anything.

The part that killing me is the headers, its took me about 12hrs to put them on, i dont have all the stock stuff, plus i think it would take longer to put on. and my cat and everything back is all welded...
As far as the intake spacers, i gota see how much the entire set of stock ones cost.. cause it may not be worth it for me to buy them and waste my time changing them ...
but if th set of stock ones is like 40 ill buy the stock ones and sell the spacers.
Sold a motorcycle on ebay.... went nice and smooth... it was even an out state transaction... with a shipping company involved... still went very smooth...
only thing is... MAKE SURE... u have a reserve set... and make sure... u let people with above 5 or so positive feedbacks bid.... cause in the motor section of ebay... there are ALOT OF dead beat bidders....

Btw... i bought my maxima off ebay...

too bad you aren't closer, I would think about buying that.
I helped a friend sell a car on ebay. The transaction wasn't too bad, but the fees were pretty high. Double what it costs to run an ad in the Autotrader.
Did you list your car on Craigslist or Autotrader?
When I was looking for a specific vehicle, I found it on Autotrader about 4 hours away. I like Autotrader much better than CL for cars. It seems like CL listings get buried and so many people use a pile of keywords and it is kind of difficult to find something specific.

ebay is a lot better than local, no tire kickers.
1) Like others have said here. Make your description as complete as possible, without making the car seem beat up. Don't lie to make it sound too good. Include many pictures.
2) Make your deposit "within 48 hours". Give people a chance to get the money.
3) Look around and see what similar cars have been going for before you list.
4) Figure what you want out of the sale, be realistic.
5) Set your price with reserve of the absolute minimum that you would sell (maybe even $1000 below that) and start bidding $1000 below that.
6) Don't start bidding at $0 because you will get a lot of dead beat bidders that just bid and have no money, eliminate them with a starting bid and a reserve.
7) Don't do a "buy it now" price. That limits how much you can make to that price.
8) This is up to you ( I don't do it) include a "seller reserves the right to pull listing early" statement
9) DEFINITELY include a "as is" statement in your listing. You don't want a buyer driving it home having a water pump go out and coming back on you. Protect yourself.
Good luck

What happened? Was he a buyer or seller?
Sellers need to really give a good description and make sure you set rules like non-refundable deposit and reasonable time limit on getting the money.
Buyers really are the ones that take the risk. Most often it is sight unseen and you are taking the other persons word on condition.

he was the buyer.
paid 4800 dollars for an 01 volvo station wagon with 88k. he carfaxed it, prepurchase, and everything was kosher.
car arrived, everything looked great. it drove well.
about a week later he comes out one morning and there is like a quart of oil under the car in his driveway. he looks around under the hood and sees that the back of the valve cover gasket was leaking, but had been covered with some kind of silicone crap, which was coming off due to the heat from the engine. it had obviously just been applied before he bought the car. hes thinking "no biggie, kinda scummy on the part of the seller, but its a couple hundred dollar fix".
so the NEXT DAY hes driving to the dealership/mechanic on the highway and his timing belt comes apart. bent valves, piston heads, everything. engine is ruined (timing belts are designed to last 120k but should be replaced at 90k).
files a claim through ebay and his bank. three weeks go by with nothing. he ends up just buying a new engine for the volvo - costing like 3 grand or something. he just recently got some money back, but no where near what he lost.

try other websites too like www.autotrader.com and www.cars.com
Yea dude, my dads best friend got screwed over too. I *think* the thing with getting "scammed" is because of dirbag sellers. If you're the one selling you shouldn't have a problem. The worst thing that can happen is the person doesn't pay you.
Don't take any money orders from Zimbabwe.
Funny (and retarded, seriously WTF) that people want the auto. When I was looking for a max everyone I called to inquire about the tranny was auto, and they said everyone who called them wanted a stick.

Oh yea, you wouldnt be acepting cash payment for a car from Paypal anyway. Get a cashier's check from their bank, and then walk it over to the bank or call them and get them to verify it first. Dont just trust them on it, even if it is USPS, dont trust them. VERIFY THE FUNDS FIRST. Dont forget to make a bill of sale from the DMV to make it legit and also serves as a record if any problems arise later on.
hey, I'm pretty sure I'm right on with these ebay fees but they change randomly so don't quote me on this...
Insertion fee: 4.80
Final Value Fee: (this gets weird) 1.31+31.69+120
=$157.80 to sell the car
=$1.31 if it doesn't sell, you still pay them that...
