2007 Rear Bumper Cover

Dropped off my baby at the shop today. The 2007 rear bumper cover will be going on and I should have it back by Friday of next week. With all the holidays and my travels I told them to keep it for a week. I'll let you guys know if I need any additional parts to get the 2007 bumper on my 2004. My worries is I'll need a new absorber and/or reinforcement. Those are $250+ more on top of the $170 I spent on the bumper.

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted. I want to see how it looks on a silver Max since I plan to do this also.

What's the difference besides the lower black insert? I assume the taillights are the same and all. I agree tho, that insert makes all the difference. I'm an old school guy. Flat black rules.

I believe it's shaped differently as well.

There's a more defined line that runs across the back. I am dropping mine off soon for paint as well...
Hilbe are you having the lower center section painted black like the stock 07's?

Basically the bumper comes in a black plastic. The lower section is a textured piece while the main bumper is smooth. My shop told me that it doesn't require paint, so they'll just mask it off and paint the rest silver.

I hope to have a better idea of what else needs replacement here in the coming days. According to Nissan the reinforcement part #'s are different between 2004 and 2007. Like I said, if that 2004 reinforcement doesn't fit the 2007 bumper the cost doubles. I am hoping it still fits, so cross your fingers

UNFADEABLE MAX already did this mod and here's his quote from another thread:
"Nope no mods, it bolted right up."

I am about to drop my car off but am still undecided. I don't per se like the more pronounced line but I like the rear insert, just not sure then if I should leave it black or paint it silver like the rest. Sh-t I hate making choices like that, they are retarded.

There isn't a rubber part. Its all plastic. The lower portion has a texture and my shop told me that means it doesn't require paint.

Yeah I think on the darker colors it's not as much of an upgrade. I like the concept rear bumper but who knows how long it will take. Plus I got my 07 rear for free........

I still haven't been called by the shop, so that may be a good thing. They told me it'd be ready tomorrow. Hoping for no calls and no extra charges

I looked around at 2007 maximas and some have that bottom piece painted. Does it come on loaded maximas, was it an option?

I parked my car next to a graphite 2007 on employee parking lot and I must say I like the 04-06 fat @ss a bit better. I love the bottom piece in black but the creases add too many lines, where 2004 is just smooth looking @ss.

I have a drop off date of 1/7 so I have to decide by then. Meanwhile I have to find a silver maxie with both the black piece and one that is painted to make my decision.

Me too. Overall I like the 04-06 @ss a bit more - except, I love that black bottom piece on the 07s. I wonder if that black piece will ever be available as a stand alone part and how it would look if put on the 04-06 bumpers

FYI,

My shop just called to say everything is bolting up just fine on my 2004 and that I won't need a reinforcement. They said it'll most likely be ready tomorrow for pickup. I'll try to get some pictures taken...

I am staying with 04-06, Just love the smoothnes, roundness and fullnes. As to the bumper, I'll try some sort of an overlay.

Got my car back today. Its rainy, but I still snapped some pics. Surprise...I did a custom job afterall

One downside is the splash guards don't quite fit right. They're not very snug. They don't sell my color of 2007, so I'm not sure if I'll get the 2007's and have them painted or what. I got mine on for now, I may take them off though...

Is it the light or the bumper doesn't match. On all three pictures the bumper appears darker.

BTW. You need to shave her or else its too busy.

No offense to anyone, I am definitely staying with old design.

I think its the reflection off my driveway. The whole lower part of the car looks dark in the photos. I can't see any difference in person...
