Removing broken antenna (an update is needed)

I've done some research and I can't find anything in relation this in the forum. The link provided in the maintenance area doesn't get the answer.

The antenna broke. The motor is still running and perfectly fine.

Here comes the problem:

I can't remove the broken portion of the antenna.

1. Does the silver cap on top of the antenna screw off? if not

2. How do you remove the broken portion of the antenna out of the shaft?

Thanks in advance.

theres a special tool to take that cap off. or if you're careful stick a flat screw driver in one of the notches and carefully tap it to loosen it up. after that you and just twist it off by hand.

I used some needle nose pliars to twist the cap. Just put the ends in the little holes.

yup or vice-grips with a cloth to protect the nut.. then take it off, turn on the radio, and yank it up hard.. it should come right out..
