replacing timing chain cover gasket

replacing timing chain cover gasket

i need to replace the gasket because its dripping oil. but i want to know if theres anything else i should be looking at or replacing while ive got everything taken apart in that area?

That's a tough job, look at water pump (and seals), main tensioner, upper oil pan gasket, maybe replace oil pump depending on milage. As for the winning I would check the tensioner, bearings for alty and comp, or just simply the belts--> start with the cheapest fix and work your way up unless you can pin point it. Good luck

There's no gasket, per se. Nissan uses FIPG there, same as the access covers, lower oil pan, and presumably the upper oil pan as well.

It's not all too hard to remove the TC with the motor in, your largest headaches will probably be the motor mount stud and not getting the RTV everywhere during reinstallation.

As maxpeed96plat. said, definitely give everything in the area a once over just to be safe. If you have the earlier style tensioner and guide, it would be a good idea to go ahead and replace them while you're in there.
