Nissan will reveal 2009 Redesigned Maxima at 2008 NY Auto Show

Nissan is not even planning to hold a press conference at next week's 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Instead, it is saving all of its firepower for the 2008 New York Auto Show, where it plans to unveil a completely redesigned 2009 Maxima, a Nissan spokesman confirmed on Thursday.

"We'll show the next Maxima in New York and a couple of other things — but not concepts," Nissan North America spokesman Darryll Harrison told Inside Line. Harrison described the '09 Maxima as "all new" but would not divulge any other details. He also added that Nissan will have a fairly low profile at February's 2008 Chicago Auto Show. Media days at the 2008 New York Auto Show kick off on March 19.

I'll definitely try to be there. The NY Auto Show is definitely the best show in the NE Region.

If I was sure that it was going to be there, I would go to NY myself.

I wonder if Nissan will verify this far enough in advance for me to get a plane ticket???

I don't even plan on being impressed by this at the Philly auto show, except for the GT-R, which is apparently the showcase car in Philly.

hondadude - The 7th gen Maxima WILL be unveiled at the NY Auto Show this March. The 2009s are already being road tested in camo, and I'm surprised nobody has already photoshopped the camo strips off and posted the result here. That will probably happen within the next month, if not sooner. Nissan knows if they wait longer than March, the photos will be out before the big intro, spoiling their fun.

Some have heard from folks associated with Nissan that the 2009 Maxima will arrive at dealers with the usual September new model release, but I will be very surprised if we don't see them arriving at dealers in July, possibly even June.

Nissan Teana (Nissan of Europe)

i see similarity traits

http://nissan.ovod.ru/teana/ it's all in a different language but i went to google images, typed in 2009 Nissan Maxima, and towards the bottom i saw this

from what i can read of the trims..there's going to be a 2.0, 2.3, 3.5L engine

3.5L has tiptronic..and the 3.5 does 0 to 60 (100km) in 7.9 sec

I know this may all be irrelevant but i just find if kind of odd to see a midsized car of this nature with a 3.5L (probably VQ) tiptronic tranny

Don't mind me if this is all wrong

The Teana came out in other markets at the same time as our 6th gen.

I really doubt that they would offer a Maxima with a four. It's had V6 engines only since 1985, and inline-6 engines before that. And 7.9 seconds? That's a total slug. Even the big 6th gen CVT can beat that. And I recall them saying they wanted something sportier than the 6th gen.

The Teena looks like a slightly differently styled Infiniti M.

Slightly bigger headlights and a different lower bumper and grille, but otherwise a Nissan badged M35

No it's not. A Teana is FWD. An M is RWD, they use different platforms.

silly noobs. how come every year since 03 someone finds the Teana and claim it's the next Maxima? it is the current Maxima in other countries.

I think it will have some stuff from the Initma, but very little to be considered one.

From what I've seen in the past, the line will be loosely based on the Altima, like when the previous '03 Altima came out, then the Maxima came out with a similar line (not the same sarcasmos). Just a little more 'luxury' items & a few different lines.

Disappointed by Nissan? Not in my lifetime. I have owned nothing but Maximas for over twenty-three years, and every generation of the Maxima has fit my needs like a glove. My only problem has been letting them go when new generations arrive.

My fifty-nine years of driving has become so much better since the Maxima arrived on the scene.

Those disappointed in the Maxima either did not understand the purpose of the car, or had unrealistic expectations. Sure, every wish of every driver could have been incorporated into the Maxima. But that has already been done in other vehicles, most of which cost far more than the Maxima. The Maxima balances comfort, performance, reliability and price in a way no other vehicle can quite match.

Just my opinion.

I talked to a guy that works at the plant yesterday. He said it will be slightly bigger, pretty much the same driveline and engine as they current one. Final first production model to be done in june and to dealers in sept.

So all they're doing is changing the skin? That sucks. Nah, just doesn't make sense when the official from Nissan described it as "all new". You tellin me all he meant was all new skin??? That would be a disappointment.
