Get a new flex, or take this as an excuse to get an aftermarket Y.

You can get an aftermarket y-pipe from various vendors ranging from $100 to $200 used and new and with an intake can result in 12-17 HP increase in power, all the while solving your initial issue =P

Sounds like a good idea too me, and you can install it yourself or have an exhaust shop do it for you for usually under $100, can't go wrong for replacement, and power increase. I plan to do mine this weekend hopefully, and might post up pictures.

There is nothing to gain from an aftermarket intake.

yeah, because i own a welder and a lift to get it up in the air to do that. not to mention i'm an experienced welder...not. how can i have a hole? hmm well, when you live in an area that gets a **** load of snow, they put down salt...salt leads to rust...rusted parts eventually get holes in them or fall apart. i'm guessing that is what happened, because my exhaust has gotten noticeably louder over the past few days, and i havent hit anything. my max is also stock, automatic, and my DD, so im not looking to do performance mods unless they are really that much cheaper than oem. someone with some experience with maxima exhausts please shed some light, and please don't post some retarded reply like that non-american russianmax.

No need to be a *** caliplayer. Best advice is to get a aftermarket if shops are quoting you at that price. If it costs more to repair the problem why not just buy a new one.

x2. If your leaking at the flex, you will never get it welded up. I tried for 3 weeks! Installed the warpspeed Y pipe and new cat. Took 4 hours to get the old system off (used torch to burn the old bolts away), about 30 minutes to get the new on.
