True 3rd Gen Clear Corner - write up w/pics
While I wasn't the first to attempt this mod, since doing this last summer I have received at least a hundred emails asking how I went about doing the clear corner mod.
I shamefully admit I have been quiet about it because I wanted to be unique, if just for a little while (el grinno).
Also, I feel bad I didn't properly document my VG automatic transformation to VE 5spd, so I offer this... with my 3rd gen love lol.
3rd Gen Clear Corners
These are some pics I took as I worked.
Keep in mind that Wade/GTS covers are designed to fit over TOP of the whole corner/headlight assembly, so when it's moved slightly lower the fitment and contour changes a bit against the corner housing.
With the OEM lens removed, and your new cover cut in half, you then have to trace out against the corner housing for more refined cutting. My main cuts were done with a jigsaw using a fine tooth blade. A good blade with small teeth make a big difference here - don't cheap out on the blade.
Also of note when using the saw is to mask off both sides of where the saw will make contact with the plastic or you will scratch it (seen in photo).
A Dremel can help in the finishing stages, but keep in mind: too fast of a speed will possibly melt your edges.
Like so many custom mods, unlike say a standard brake job, a lot of this type of mod is learning as you go, taking your time, and measuring twice.
If you choose to perform this mod you'll see what I mean once you get going.
Good luck!

OEM housing gutted

Test fit of uncut clear cover - too tall to fit in housing. Roughly 3/4 inches tapering to about 1/2 inches too tall (as evidenced along the bottom edge).

After tracing OEM cover against clear cover, masking a line (both sides) so jigsaw won't damage plastic

Testing cut piece of clear next to clear headlight

After painting OEM housing black

... pics continued in next post

Partly for aesthetic reasons. It just looks better in black against a black car.
But also, with the OEM lens being replaced by a totally clear cover, I didn't want to blind the crap out of oncoming drivers. The LED's I use in the corners are fairly intense. That's the one drawback to removing functional lenses with properly placed cut lines. Same with the clear headlights. Looks good, but it leaves something to be desired without those cuts in the lens.

What next? One piece headlight and corner??? Lol
I'm glad this worked out for you! I'm tempted to replace my lenses and seal the hole thing like the way you did.
Didn't you paint the inside of the plastic lenses for the sealer seam?

Yes, I painted the inside edges of the lens black to hide the adhesive, which I would have done as well had I left the housing chrome.
Has anyone thought of using smoked Wade covers for the E36 headlights or for these clear corners, or would they be too dark? I know the UK Clear corners come smoked from the manufacturer, but they are hard to get and don't have the corner light. Reason I ask is because I saw some online for sale and was thinking they might work.
You did an awesome job dude, I wish I could install something like that on my car but I just dont think it would look too good on a white car. Black on the other hand, looks real nice.
I know you didnt make a write up but didnt you post something about making these a while ago?

Sorry I haven't checked this thread in a while. I had no idea there was this many responses. I really don't have the time to make them for people (besides you couldn't afford me lol). But if you have the nerve to tackle this project on your own I got the Wade covers here:

* just a warning - this place is not entirely speedy when it comes to shipping. But they are definitely reliable.
Actually the clear fronts went in before I did the clear corners. You probably missed it in my sig pic.
