Maxima Revisions?

I havent posted in a while, I dont know...but I was surfing around (Extremely bored) I was checking out Nissans website, more specificly the different specs on the 350z / Max / Alt Coupe....

I already know this has been discussed a bagillion times but w/e. The 08 Max still has the vq35de engine? I mean really nothing has changed, More importantly, there is nothing that a new Maxima offers that would make me want one....nothing. So its kind of sad really. I love my 02 Max, no regrets. In my next car purchase, I have to admit, the Max would be so far down my list of potential cars, that it might not even make the list.

Anyone else care to rant about this subject?

this thread is so worth while.

i don't like 6gen's at all. don't like the interiors or the exteriors. the 02-03 or 97-99 are my favorite models by far.

i will not be buying another maxima unless the new style is a huge change over the direction they are going. in 2-3 years i'll be ready to buy a new car and i have no idea what i'll be looking at as nissan isn't doing it for me lately...maybe a g37 now that would work...

if i go away from nissan it's going to have awd and a turbo.

OffTheLine - I would hope you would hang on just five more weeks until the '09 Maxima is unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The '09 Maxima will be a different animal than the 6th gen, and you might like it. If not, then you can justify dropping the Maxima from your list, because, other than the addition of a powerful refined diesel version in 2010, I don't expect major changes to the 2009 Maxima before 2013 or 2014.

Nissan has stated that the Maxima was going more towards a luxurious appeal, as apparent in the 6th generation Maxima. I don't get why people complain about this so much. If people really don't like the step to luxury Nissan is taking with the Maxima (which I think it's smart on their part seeing how the Maxima is their flagship sedan) than why not step down to an Altima which in reality is the 'substitute' to what the Maxima used to be and what some of you dream of it being once more.

It's called progress, part of evolution, deal with the reality.

To all of you, don't hold your breath, if its anything like the new murano (seems to be the way nissan designs lately), then the 7th gen maxima will be another dissappointment. My next car Mercedes c63 amg.

I wish people would cease the b*tching about the styling of the Maxima in any generation. If you don't like the styling, no one is forcing you to buy the car.

now, now nlt624; you and SickLiqSilver are going to have to stop posting these sensible posts. The purpose of this board is clearly to furnish an outlet so that all the haters have a place to bleed off enough vitriol that they don't have to slap their spouse or kick their dog.

Granted, the endless complaining of those who STILL don't understand the Altima 3.5 is Nissan's 4DSC of the present and future can be really grating at times to those of us who love ALL Maximas, but we will suffer the pain in the hope it gives the complainers some relief.

I think what it all comes down to is name branding, before the last redesign the altimas were cars one might drive to high school or a commuter lot. The maxima is/was to me a high performance car that that flew under the radar.
It takes alot to build up name recognition. I think we were all hoping for another kick azz type maxima instead of another 6th gen with more window dressing.
I think the "new" maxima is a 6.5 generation. Nothing dramatic has changed that would put it into a new 7th generaion, even if the powers to be at nissan say so

If the changes they talk about that are suppose to come in 2010-12 then that would be a true 7th gen

stocked out - The 'new' Maximas ('07 and '08) ARE 6.5 gens, and are considered to be so by Nissan, auto writers and fans.

The '09, on the other hand, will BEAR NO RESEMBLANCE to the 6.5 gen Maxima, will have a big boost in power, and will THEN stay essentially the same for four or five years, except for making it also available with a powerful, smokeless, quiet diesel option in 2010.

In light of what Goshn has said about the 7th gen Maxima, we would be making an unwarranted judgement to disparage or doubt before we ever see the first specification, much less a picture.

aaah ok, thanks. Kept hearing the 'new designed maxima', guess it biased my opinion of the 07-08 model

lightonthehill....alwyas holding it down!! With my 6th gen being my first Maxima, it's obviously my favorite gen (I do like a nice 5.5 now and again I will admit) But I too am anxiously awaiting the NY autoshow to see what Nissan has in store for us (fingers crossed)...

I know it wont happen but I hope it will drop a good 200lbs with a power boost, and a smaller look to it. not like the yhatt I feel the 6th gen was.

At this point the Acura TL, Infiniti G35 or Lexus IS look like they have more to offer-the new Accord even looks better. Don't expect me to jump into a newer Nissan anytime soon. To bad, I have alway been a Datsun/Nissan fan-Thanks Carlos Goshn

If the TL was RWD, it would be cool, almost as cool as a bandwagon.

+1. My only problem with the g37 is that it's going to drink even more premium gas than my max, so that's pretty much off my list entirely..I'll probably end up going AWD 4cyl turbo

That and I’m not exactly impressed with its torque curve.
