FS: PC Parts and a 4 Month Old Custom Built Gaming PC

Hey everyone. The time has come for me to move away from my PC habits (no more time) and sell the machine I just built not long ago (I ordered all the parts on 11/8/07). This a top-end gaming machine. It will handle anything you throw at it without a problem (Crysis, Call of Duty 4, DiRT, etc). I paid $2,200 for it and am looking to get $1,800 for it. That price is without shipping. Actually, I'd like to do pick-up only. I do not feel comfortable shipping this 1) because it's very pricey and 2) because it's kind of heavy. Here is the break down of the PC and what you get:
  • GIGABYTE GA-X38T-DQ6 Intel Motherboard - Paid $300
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe (3.0Ghz) - Paid $280
  • MSI GeForce 8800Ultra 768MB PCI-Xpress x16 and SLI/HDCP Ready Video Card - Paid $590
  • 2GB (2 x 1GB) OCZ Platinum DD3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Memory - Paid $516
  • OCZ ModXStream 780W Power Supply - Paid $190
  • SYTRIN Ultra HD Cooler - Paid $25
  • 52-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader - Paid $10
  • Samsung 18x DVD+-R DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology (SATA interface) - Paid $30
  • Sony 18x DVD+-R DVD Burner (SATA) - Paid $30
  • Vantec Iceberg DDR Memory Coolers - Paid $12
  • ZALMAN 9500A 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Paid $60
  • M-AUDIO Revolution 5.1 High-Definition Sound Card - Paid $80
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 3.0Gb/s 500-GB Hard Drive - $140
  • Logitech MX3200 Keyboard/Mouse Combo - Paid $70
  • Mid-Tower case with blue LED 120mm rear fan, 80mm side fan, front USB connectors and a clear window pane
You also will get the following with your purchase:
  • Windows XP Professional SP2 with all recent updates to within a few days of your purchase
  • Microsoft Word and Excel 2007
Here are the pictures:

*** Note: The top 80mm fan is missing because the power supply unit is too long and I had to remove the fan to fit it ***

ONLY? Dude...it's 2GB of DDR3 1600..not DDR or DDR2. 2GB of that costs as much as some brand new ENTIRE computers at a computer store. The transfer rates are ridiculous.

The wireless card is 802.11b (not G). You can have it for $20 shipped. Figure $10 for card + $6 or so for UPS ground shipping + $3 supplies...+ $x.xx paypal fees...make it $20 even. You agree? If so, paypal me at ilyakolodiychik*at*hotmail.com and I'll get that out to you tomorrow. If you pay me before 7:00am I can get it out the same day. If it's after, it'll go out the next day. You will get the tracking info via PM.

USB ports never changed lol...they only got different speeds (1.1 and 2.0). Any USB drive will work with any USB port, it will just function slower if it was designed for 2.0 and is plugged into a 1.1 port.

I don't have any drives anyhow. Check NewEgg.com.

Bro...NEVER EVER listen to the guys at Best Buy lol. It's just some kid trying to make a buck. I work in IT (it's my CAREER lol) and the only difference between 1.1 and 2.0 is transfer speeds. The physical port did NOT and will NOT change.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Bump for an insane computer (C2D, DDR3, and SLI capability are HUGE) at a good price. I just built my rig (E6750@3.4, 2GB, gigabyte P35 board, HD3870) which screams but that rig would smoke the crap outta mine

GL with the sale!

That's the funny part. But he's dead wrong. I've been a Desktop Support Tech and now Technical Specialist for four years (since I was 16) so I know my stuff...and if something has changed then I should be fired. lol.

The rep's not making anything up, but Ilyak is correct, he's telling you false information. USB is completely backwards compatible, it's the nature of the interface. It will obviously back up slower, but it will still work flawlessly.

On a side note: Ilyak, how do you get a tech job like that so young? I'm 17 and I've been building computers since I turned 14, I'd like a job like that... :P

Well...when I was in 11th they (the school district) offered me a computer tech sub-contractor role (got paid $7/hr cash to do basic PC work) cause the helpdesk lady I knew mentioned my name to the IT manager...that gave me two years of experience. Then when I graduated and started college, I did an 'internship' (I worked 40/hrs a week and did everything everyone else did just didn't get benefits) until this Jan. I got hired on permanently as a Technical Specialist and now make 2x more than I did as an intern. I guess I got a lucky break.

Ask your school district IT manager if they are hiring student techs. That's how I got my start (I've been doing it since I was 12 myself - similar to you). And then when you get to college, wherever you go, ask the same of that IT staff. I'm sure you'll catch a break somewhere.

I'm just now finishing my two years associates in Computer Info Systems (CIS). Once I get that, I'm going for all of my basic certifications (A+, Network+, and my various Microsoft Certifications).

Good luck!

hey iIyak. this is a bit of a technical question for you.hope u can help me. but does a jump from 4 to 6 cpu voltage regualors help alot in oc'ing. i read somewhere that all Gigabyte p35 boards had a 6 stage volt reg, then after my purchase, found out that the one i bought only has a 4stage regulator with all solid state caps. i plan on evenutally ocing the quad core 6600 from 2.4 to about 3.0 ghz. gonna break it in first.

also the board (GA P35 DS3L)only has a 4 pin atx12v cpu power plug when many have 4+4 pin. I think the q6600 can draw up to 280w when oc'ed and stressing multithreaded apps/games. is this too much for a single 4pin to handle. will it fry/burn/melt?

any help is appreciated. thanks

I got the same board as you, max - it's flawless. You'll love it. I'd invest in a tiny fan for the NB chipset though, it runs pretty hot. Get aftermarket cooling for that quad, clock it to 3.0, and you should hit 13k+ in 3DMark06 with that 8800GT

One thing I have NEVER done in the PC world is OC. NEVER. Not once.

With that being said...use the ZALMAN 9500A CPU fan that I use (if it fits your MoBo/Chip) and it should help if you decided to OC. Good luck.

u found a tiny fan that fits perfectly onthe northbridge? some reviews said it gets pretty hot. how did you screw/mount it? i was thinking of addig some artic silver5 and aiming an 80mm side panel case fan in that direction.

That would be sufficient. i bought a little copper HSF from thermaltake for $20, used AS5, and it's cold even on overvoltage. Don't worry about voltage stability with this board, i'm at 425x8 (3.4GHz compared to 2.66 stock) running 1.425 vcore and it's rock solid.

Ha no problem man, glad to help. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. Good luck! Only advice I can give is the 4pin power connector is hidden behind the cpu heatsink - be sure to plug it in before you install the heatsink as to not forget about it. I did and it wouldnt even post :P

Okay fellas...hate to do this but this is a For Sale thread after all. Please end the discussion about mobo's, etc. I was only offering small advice, not trying to make this into a full blown OC'ing discussion.

Have a good day.

Bump.

haha, that's very similar to me! I graduated last year and was offered a position as THE tech guy at my school, even before I graduated. I've got my A+ and Net+ already, and I'm working on an associate's in CIS as well. Rock on dude, good luck with it!

How the hell do you have prices like that? Who you use? Are you a vendor? If so who you do you work for...perhaps my company could use you. Either way, I'm not looking to part with the PC anymore...just the video card since I got myself an XBox 360.

I run and own a computer business. I have a re-seller account with newegg and tigerdirect. I thank god too, because they dont even offer them anymore. I have had mine for a few years now. Matter of fact i think last time i tried to find the application for a friend of mine TD's website had something to the extent of "We do not offer vendor or reseller accounts. For the benifit of our customers all prices listed are the cheapest we can offer!". Kinda made me laugh lol. I havent ordered anything in a month or so though, sadly i keep managing to fix computers without parts. Its getting annoying.

And CDW in my experience is always too damn expensive. I had NO idea NE/TD were charging that much for that stuff, or i would have raised my prices lol.

Would have been back when i used to spend the $$ on myself lol. When the economy kicks back in and people start dropping the money on gaming rigs it will be nice again.
