not really, first car was a ford and still have an Explorer right now, but I probably have owned more GMs then other cars mainly because my wife can't drive a stick and I had to get a car that she could drive and wasn't much power loss btwn the stick and auto. My t/a auto would hang with and sometimes spank a 6 speed t/a, because GM makes a strong auto, now fords on the other hand, not so much. Try putting a stock auto mustang against a 5 speed mustang, the 5 speed walks away everytime, that's why I mainly got GMs.

That's one of the commonly available cars I probably would purposely get an auto instead of a manual, in an LSX powered car...a nice stalled auto will kick the manual's ***, a fair amount of the time.

Figured as much, you really only see the 'A4' and 'M6' style of referring to trans choice from the GM guys. Then there's the Ford guys with ATX/MTX, and most import owners I know do 4AT/5MT etc.

Anyway...

I guess your a bit out of the loop. What you say was true till the new S197 Mustang. Ford's have a 5 speed auto now and regularly beat 5 speed mauals with consistancy. I still like the stick, but sometimes wish I had gotten the Auto, but mostly to drink coffee in traffic.

not out of the loop, just not rich, and a new mustang is not in my price range and that was bout 8 years ago when I was looking for a good Auto, and back then the Ford Autos suck. Sure I would love a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra A5, but not very practicle with my income and a baby
