Well I can get the catmann(muffler only) for around $400 and the megan muffler + b pipe for $400 as well. I've heard just the cattman in person and it looks the same as the megan but it sounds deeper and louder than the videos of the megan exhaust. At first I thought they were clones of eachother but after listening to the clips, they seem a bit different in sound. So for $400 which would you get? The megan exhaust has the extra b pipe for $400 total and the sound may be better from what I've heard?!?!

I have had both and they sound the same, IMO. They both fit perfectly with my Frankencar b-pipe too, with the Megan having slightly shorter tips I think.

Also, exhaust clips don't always do the actual sounds justice because it depends on the recording device, recording conditions, playback, etc, etc.

Get whatever is easier for you in terms of cost and availability.

Thanks Puppetmaster! Yeah Ive heard the cattman in person but not the megan, thats probably why it sounded different. It's just a hard decision if I want the muffler + b pipe from megan or just the muffler from cattman. Is the b pipe gonna make much of a difference, in terms of sound and/or power?

Another problem with the 5th gen b-pipes are that they rust out and will need a replacement, depending on where you are located. The Megan is stainless steel so if you are in wintery conditions, you should highly consider the b-pipe in the Megan package as a back-up, at least.

Get the megan catback. Why not go all stainless underneath for the same price as cattman? Plus youll get rid of the restrictive crimped section in the stock b pipe.

depends on what your looking for. getting a b-pipe will make your exhaust louder. in terms of gaining HP, your looking at a small gain, but its better than nothing. your car will also lose some low end tourqe, but will gain top end. i have the megan one. but its kinda too loud for me, even though its still quiet compared to other exhausts out there. if i was younger i would probably loved the sound. but now i just want something quiet.

megan is a good deal. you get the cat-back for 400, which will save you money compared to cattman.

If I do any exhaust work beyond either headers or a y-pipe, I'll replace the stock B-pipe, but leave the stock muffler in place since it isn't a major restriction.

Frankencar muffler....

JK

I didn't like my megan, it was way to loud with headers, and it didn't fit right, the b-pipe would rattle off one of the supports and the axle back part would hit off the rear beam, but now with the frankencar muffler I have none of that.

This summer though, I'm going a custom 3" back from the y-pipe

I like my Megan....probably cuz I don't have headers like you to make it loud. Anyways...i agree the B pipe does rattle off the support (I need to take care of that come spring) but my axel back is fine and does not hit off the rear beam. It sits close though but I'm pretty sure mine doesn't touch.

Got the cattman used from a friend, nice and deep, not too loud or ricey at all, very pleased with it as I needed to replace my bpipe but ended up buying the full catback for 400 installed.

yeah, the guy is nice enopugh but there are serious supply-chain issues.
I have been waiting three months for headers, ypipe and cat. Now the cats are going to be in stock but the headers/ypipe will not. I can not afford to put 1100 on my credit card to sit and wait months for it. But that is the only way he will hold anythign as it becomes available is to pay and wait.

i have megan racing on my 2000, and i like it. when i had it installed, i used different exhaust rubber mount on my b-pipe, its little shorter then original. So b-pipe sits little higher and not touching the support bracket.

I am very pleased with my Megan Cat-Back. I bought one of the prototypes before they were being retailed, it's been on now for over 6 months and still sounds great, no packing burnout, or any signs of fatigue on the welds or rust.

Finally got the megan installed. I got the catback yesterday and was impressed with the overall quality. The welds were clean and the flanges looked great. After the install , it sounds great. Nice growl, nothing annoying, and the idle is very quiet. I haven't taken it on the highway yet to test for drone yet though. I like it so far, it makes the maxima sound the way it should! I hope to get a video clip posted soon, once the weather gets a bit better.

Here's a pic of the rear:

For the next 5 hours, any one with tips on the install please PM me.

It's not rocket science, but it's the first time I am working on a cat back on the Maxima.

Well I took my car to a shop to have it done. Bolts were a ***** obviously. Had to torch them off and the air tools still had trouble with them and my car is an 03 with 50k miles. Also you'll need to do something with the pipe ruinning above the crossmember as it rubs. I had the muffler shop fix this by welding a hanger on it. Vid coming soon!
