I'd say 14.6@96 maybe. Also check the timeslip database.

EDIT: Since its your first time I'd say 15.0 -14.9

why would it be so different if it's his first time.. do you have to use a different launching technique on the track than you do on the street?

that MPH is way to high for any stock auto 02-03 maxi.

14.9+ sounds about right for a 1st timer. You won't trap higher than 93-94MPH.

I ran a 14.9 my first time out. So far my best is 14.67 at 94.77 MPH. I recommend the drop resistor mod for racing to improve your trannies shift speed and preserve its life.

Hmmm, interesting.

What do you guys think a stock VQ35 slushbox does 0-60 in? I couldn't find any info except for the auto Infiniti I35 with the same motor hitting it in 7.5 seconds. I would have to guess maybe bone-stock, the auto VQ35 Maxima can do 7.1 seconds since it's lighter? It feels most powerful on the mid-range from 2nd to 3rd gear, but I don't think it breaks 7s in 0-60 acceleration.

My car is fairly modded AND I'm @ ~ 5600' elevation and I manage a 6.2 - 6.5 0-60 (PLXR300 ) on a cool/dry night.

HOLY crap...that is really impressive for 5600 ft. I am at 5600ft with a gen4 5sp and I think I am good for about 8.2 seconds. Then again since my transmission bearings aren't in the best of shape I am going really easy on the shifts.

...just make sure you leave on the last yellow, don't wait for it to turn green.

Ya i agree, he'll have first day jitters and probably land in the low 15s. Just when you start getting the hang of it, itll be time to go home. I usually practice with my gtech a bit and around the 5-7th run i get my best numbers.

lol I can see first day jitters slowing you down in a manual... but an auto? The only "hard part" is the launch. Unless you're playing with shifting manually, it's kinda mash the gas and hold on.

honestly, that doesnt really matter since that only reads reaction time and since youre not really racing the guy in the next lane (unless you're running heads up matching) the time starts when you cross the line. you could sit at the light for 10-15 seconds before taking off and still cut good times. ( i know from doing it )

This is kind of off topic, but how would you launch an auto at a drag strip?
