LOL.....wtf?

"If the max is a 5 speed, a high speed race you'd probably edge him, because our cars handle better and.(also depends on driving ability, this is assuming equal drivign ability)"

Ummmm.....ok....handling affects straight-line speed in what way?? Keep in mind the Acura is an auto...

"On high speed runs, the max's are toast, because they have a fuel cut off at about 135. I just keep on going..."

Hmmm.....I dunno, I've taken my VE auto up to 140+ and could have done more. Do 4th gens really have a fuel cut off? The guy with the Acura has an auto, so I dont see him giving any Maxima much trouble....

Also, he said the 3rd Gen GXE had the 160 hp, not the 4th gen, so he was correct in that. That Maxima owner who posted on there did a good job.

i think the 5th Gen's had a cutt off issue

I was under the impression that the 4th Gen.s were only putting out around 160 at the wheels. I think that the 5th Gen.s put out something like 190 at the wheels. Check with Cheston or other Max owners who've had their Max's dyno'd

I can tell you what the turn out is racing a 5 Gen Max. Those are the ones with 222hp. I have a 6 speed coupe. I have lost to a 5th Gen manual max by about a car length, but I can beat a auto max easily.(Drag Racing), Oh BTW, the 5th Gen Max 5 speed, was modded, I think with quite some stuff, especially the exhaust, it was real loud. (possibly no cat)
that 5th gen was me! this legend owner lives near me (NYC) and he showed up to a maxima meet one night so we took it to an empty road and did some runs. beat him everytime. he's a nice guy though.

the only mod i had on my max was a catback. 2.25" piping, no resonator, and a M1 muffler. NO intake, NO ypipe. Ask people who know me how loud my car is with just the catback.

I know you guys go every Friday Night, but most Legend owners are oldtimers and tired after working and martial arts class.... So Saturday night is it????

LOL...talk about lacking knowledge of other cars...! wow! They haven't a clue. I've never run against the most recent legends, but any of the other ones are all sleds. I mean...they sorta...kept up a car length behind....

LOL...yeah ... ever heard of CARPOINT??? lol! SE is more sporty by having a different engine? oookay lol.

good job, setting them straight. You might mention that the non-stock max's are much faster.

Lime:

What do you mean don't know what I am talking about regarding Maximas. I know the 4 Gen's all have 190, in all trim. Gen 3 are the ones different. Please if you are gonna make a comment read carefully. I may have been wrong about the fuel cut off, I know there is a Gen that had that, but also I know your cars have some sort of top speed limit.. And yes, I do agree non stock Maxima's are very fast. The performance you can get out of that engine is awesome..

WOW, I am glad my 3rd gen doesnt have cutoff. I have taken it up to 141mph with no hesitation. And I have 215k on the motor. I know I could have gotten it to 145-150mph. And I dont know about the legends. But if the new TL type S is faster than I think the legends will get owned by any gen Max. Because Brian V raced the new type S at the track and it ran like a 15.XX while Brian was running 14.3's with just a couple of bolt ons. I would like to see a Legend and a Max go top end on the freeway. Max's own on the freeway.

Just wanted you to know that yes, I do have a speed limiter. Its called the force of air and friction at 155 MPH+ that my Maxima's engine cannot overcome....

BTW I am a Legend lover too. I got beat by a type 2 manual coupe when I was stock pretty good. There are a few reasons why I picked the max over the legend, but nonetheless, they are truly beautiful cars. I wish Nissan had styling mindsets like Acura when they came out with the newer Maximas.

I too am a Legend Lover, I posted this thread initially. I have posted this before, many many say the Legend is big and slow I owned a sedan auto and I have NEVER driven an automatic that shifted so strong, every single time I chirped 2nd gear and the car had 194K miles one it and was around 3500lbs. Perhaps Honda made better transmissions but my Max (stinkin auto) will NEVER chirp second while going in a straight line.

The 3rd Maxima was an awesome car in the early 90s but the Acura Legend was about 10 years ahead of everyone else. To think you could purchase a 6sp Sedan back in 93 (93 GS) -Legend owners correct me if I am wrong- The cars came with FSTB and handled great out the box, the cars in stock for were pretty close to the ground.

I think Acura is finally starting to put out a product that comparable to the Legend

6Speed Sedan available in 94 and 95, GS models. 6Speed Coupes, 93-95.
Which years did Maximas have speed limiter? Some of you guys say there is and some say there isn't. I know for a fact some years do but not sure which ones, can someone clarify that?

which really means few GXEs have a limiter, as most had the C&C package.......

just and FYI to that.. if you see a 5spd Maxima with chrome door handles.. its is safe to assume it has a limiter..

if it doesn't.. that person is a serious modder and you shouldn't mess with him anyway

ALL 5spd GXE's have limiters

Thanks for the info.. I knew I was right about some of them with speed limiter or fuel cut offs..

Toylet, have all the new toys, you want. My new toy is a new engine. You will probably hear some swishes went I blow by you. But one thing though with the amount of money I have spent on this car, I wish I just bought a Supra TT.
