Hey guys! This week we got hit by a severe thunder storm which of course produced some amount of hail! Now after the storm I ended with visible hail damage on my roof and hood. The dents aren't too big, kinda minor I would say but still visible

Was wondering does anyone know or can recommend a good car cover that would be able to prevent from this hail crap later in the future!???

 

hard to say.. most car covers are just made out of fabric which probably wouldn't do much. Depends on how thick though. Tarp might help, but may not be good for the paint. Some sort of rubber material would probably absorb more of the energy than anything else..

I assume no garage, carport? And for the amount of times there is ever hail so bad that it damages the car.. probably not even worth it. That, and how can you predict hail? What if it rains at night? You going to put that thing on everyday?

 

That's a good question though! Well sence I can't park my car in the garage I usually leave it park outside.
I'm usually aware of the severe weather before it storms so I been keeping my car safe, untill it stormed hard here over night and I couldn't do anything about it. Weather news usually warn if there's a chance of hail or strong winds, so most of the time I stay in touch of what's going on, but nights are different.

For example if I had some sort of a double/triple protective cover for my car, I could've at least pull it out for the night and safe my self from all that headache that's going on now.

 

a garage is your solution. I'm looking for one nearby since my car got hit by some hit & runs.

 

This is a bit ghetto, but it works, or at least it worked for me last year...1)buy several "egg crate(s)" that would normally go on a bed. (I used two queen size) 2) Cut to cover the trunk, top, and hood of your car. 3) Place normal car cover on top on the egg crates and car. (I had a friend to help, made it much easier) Of course you will want to clamp or weight the cover down to keep it from blowing off in the high winds.

--Disclaimer: This method did save me, as my friends car right next to me had some slight dents. It was not a severe hail storm (produced golf ball size hail) but many other cars had damage.

 

Put some cheap carpet underlay on your car and cover it with a car cover.

This will be your only option, unless yuo can add some card borad under the cover which might do more dmage to youtr paint

 

Man it!!!!! So there's no anti-hail covers out there? I found some tripple protection car covers on sale out there, but who knows if they will save your car from the hail?

I also remember that my cousin had some sort of a pretty decent car cover for his Celica. As I remember it was a pretty thick cover layer and it was pretty soft which could abserve all the hail energy (but who knows). Don't know if his car ever got hit by any hail storm before.

BLK2BLU sound like a good idea. Not as simple as finding some sort of a thick cover which could observe the energy but if there's nothing else out there, that could be my way out.

 

Not sure if that would be enough, baseball sized hail hits the ground at nearly 100 mph.

I've had two cars hammered by hail, only had liability on them (older cars) but that is one of the reasons I have full coverage on my Maxima.

 

yeah if it's baseball size hail then I don't think any kind of cover would be good enough.

I hear that all the time, but the last major earthquakes was in 1994. KNOCK ON WOOD! (I don't want to the one responsible for that mess.)

Now that I think about it, my kids are 6 & 7 and they've even felt an earthquake.

 

We had some pretty bad weather last night in Benbrook, TX. I've been searching for a local store or online store where I can get a car cover to protect it from hail. I've damaged my car and it sucks! I found a website online where they're fixing to open up and sell their product pretty soon and I really think it will work once it's available. Are you looking for something that you can store in the garage or something more portable that stores away in the trunk ?

 

You could tent the car but is that really what you want to do every night? There is no fail safe cover, only carports and garages. GL, No Hail in Fl.

 

use a normal car cover and just place something under the cover liiikkeee house carpet or anything that would pervent from dentin yo s**t

Hail sucks big time, but if we ever get it around here, it's never that big.

 

I like to find a leafy tree to park under, if there is hail forecast.

ehh, those Mazda 3s are kinda peppy with the 5spd autos.. sometimes i feel like the car handles ALOT better than my eibach/illumnia/ltb2 setup.. because of the steering is so fast :P

Where can I purchase the Nissan OEM car cover for the 5th gen without actually seeing the dealer?

I thought I saw a website or maybe ebay had them and it said Nissan on the front. Sucks to be anywhere near hail...feel sorry for you guys. If you ever consider moving make sure thats under the pro's.
