New PB...NA 96 5MT

Now these time are nothing spectacular compared to a lot of you guys in here but this is the best that I have done so far. I don't know how many of you remember but since I have been on here I have had a lot of issues with my clutch. I did a 5 speed swap (not personally a shop did) before I joined this forum and I burnt out an Exedy Stage 1 clutch.

Now I have a SPEC stage 2 and I would have burnt that out as well but the problems have finally been resolved! The reason for my clutch slipping when the tranny gets hot or when I was sitting at lights was because of the pedal adjustment. This whole time the bolt was adjusted the wrong way. Now the clutch is working 100% the way it should be.

Now I have been to the track a few times before and each time as soon as I would come off the line, the car would just stick at redline, even when I shifted gears because of the clutch issues. Last night was my first time at the track with it working properly.

I went to Orlando Speed World and I'm no weather man but the conditions seemed to be great for racing. We had our last but of cold weather last nite and I wanted to try and take advantage of it.

I got there at 6pm and only got 2 runs in the whole night! Its always packed here no matter what night you go out.

And these are the slips:

I have videos but I won't get them up until the weekend. These were done on my heavy 20 inch wheels. I know there is a lot of room for improvement. I was running 235/35/20 all around on Nitto 555. Front tires had 1800 miles on them. I left it at 35psi. I was afraid to drop it lower because I felt like it might grind on the rim at the launch.

Personally I am happy with the results just because of what I have been thru with this car in the past year. I know she has a lot better in her but that will come soon.

I'm looking for any feedback on how I can improve and what you guys think overall. Thanks and sorry its so long.

Well before the bolt on the top of the pedal was threaded all the way up. Now its back down towards the firewall. It can only turn about 2 more times before it stops. I had it all the way up but it wasn't engaging the slave cylinder properly.

Wow to know someone from here goes to orlando speed world... i thought i was the only maxima that goes there... the track is garbage you can never hook. Nice times i ran a 15.5 there with a bad launch, looks like your wheels are slowing you down since a higher rpm drop gives you a better 60'

It was wednesday night which was the 16th. For some reason their machine was a day ahead the times were AM instead of PM.

Once you get those wheels in your sig on, your times will improve AND your MPG will get better too.

Yea my friends and I are trying to go once a month. They all drive VWs. I have one other friend with a 300zxTT. I will go back next month with the new wheels and see what the difference will be

Thats true. I am supposed to get the rims mounted on the tires tomorrow. I got General Exclaim UHPs 235/45/17. I will be taking pics of everything especially the weight differences.

Do you think it was possible at all that I would have been able to crack a 14.99 with a better launch? The thing is I am not sure just how much more improvement I could have gotten on the launch. I wanted to try a launch from about 6000RPMs or so but the line was closed after my last run.

I think you will definitely hit 14s with the new wheels. I imagine the 20s are incredibly heavy. You could possibly have hit 14s with the 20s on if you'd been able to pull some good 60's in the low 2.2s or high 2.1s.

well this last time i went was suppose to be our last cold front of the year. i would say it was in the low 50s that night. hopefully i can get a night in the 60s and take it then because now that we are approaching summer it doesn't really go below 70 at night here in Orlando unless its real late. last call to race at the track is 10pm so that sucks.
