Switch placement

Ok first off im not sure if this is the right section or not but i didnt know where else to put it. I'm about to place 5 switches in my 95 somewhere to control emergency lights im putting in. My question is should I make a panel and put it in the lowest din slot where i currently have my XM control unit and find a different place for the XM, or should i drill into the plastic in between the shifter trim and the cup holders and place them along there. I really dont want to to drill into the plastic but I like where the XM unit is now and don't want to have to move that either. Just looking for some opinions.

If you don't like either of your proposed options, why not put them elsewhere?

Center console, glovebox, wherever they are easily accessible (when they need to be) yet out of the way.
