looking at a 98 infiniti with 48k miles
Hey guys, I used to own a 95 max a while back, and am wanting to return, I found a 98 infiniti with 49k miles owned by and elderly couple that was traded in at a dealership. It is in PRISTINE condition, and I was just wondering if there is anything I should look out for in terms of inspecting it, problems, etc. Also, what what would you offer on the vehicle, its not the touring, but its the base with leather, bose, etc. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to coming back.
what kind of infiniti? do the knock test on all the panels to make sure theres not bondo, check for over spray on mouldings, check the dipstick and oil cap for sludge or burnt oil, make sure the ac works, highway test it for any driving problems. carfax isnt 100% but its good to have.
went and saw them today, the car was immaculate, they wanted 8500 as their final offer, I gave 7k and they turned me down. As nice as the car is, I cant pay more than 7k for it. I'll see if they call back.
hope they do. thats a great find. any type of extended warranty?
i believe that buying from a dealership increasesthe chance of getting a quality car. however, i would still do a carfax as well as have it inspected by a third party.

Hmm that's a lot of money for car that is 10yrs old in my opinion. But it does have super low miles. Well I got my 2k i30 for $6700 with 103k miles and its a pretty good car. Looks damn good for 8yr old car thats from ny. I hope you get the car you want and don't forget to search for some newer cars for 7k. Good luck.
its not worth that much. if you're on the east coast, that's 10 years worth of winters its been through. that's a lot of salt. i'd find something newer with higher miles. i went away from the low mileage philosophy years ago, too much body wear from nasty winters here.
Well they called back and said 7300 plus taxes and fees. The i30 is in perfect condition, and I would like to keep it for about 4-6 yrs, so resale isn't much of a problem. They will provide me with a 90 day warranty and cover all repairs no questions asked. So what do you all think? By the way I don't have any pictures on me or online. I just want to make sure I can have something reliable and trouble free considering I looked for something with low mileage. Thanks in advance for the help.

You know they only paid 4k max for it.
i kbb'd it at $8350. i would probably pay it (although i'd really shoot for the original $7k) simply because i really like that car and its low mileage and in excellent condition. if thats the car you want then i say go for it. if your just looking for a car in general then you could probably do better.
don't sleep on the warranty though. i would immediately take it to another dealer and have them go over it from head to toe.
