All 96-98 are fed spec, a 98 cali spec doesnt exist.

For clarification a 95 cali spec is a 96 fed spec. A 95 fed spec has fewer emissions.
A 99 fed spec is like a 98. 99 cali spec has more emissions similar to a 5th gen.

althought not a FED to CA difference, 98 and 99's lack a fuel pump control module which 95-97's have. 97 ECU looks for the FPCM while 98's doesn't. 97 ECU in a 98 will trigger the FPCM code since it cant find one. the ECU from CA to FED has no real differences since the majority of differences are exhaust stuff. but i still would like to locate a 98 5spd CA ECU. and yes a 98 CA spec does exist.

Nothing you have stated proves you have a 98 CA spec.

Exhaust between 98 and 99 fed specs is exactly the same, there is no CA spec 98 exhaust. There are electrical differences in EVERY year's ECU's, no two years were exactly the same. Still doesn't prove you have a CA spec.

The BIG change came with the 99 CA spec, whose ECU's are closer to the 5th gen maxima than the 4th gen, along with a host of added emissions equipment. The WHOLE POINT of the CA spec was to meet CA emissions requirements that came into effect in 1999. 1999, not 1998.

If somehow in that 1% chance you do have a 1998 CA spec car, then your car is a one off, or one of so very few you are never going to find a match on these forums. Take note that manufactures start building the next model year car in the prior year. If you are going off of your build date, and you have a car built for example in 10/98, then you have a 1999 car, not a 1998.

Oh, and I am a smart guy, thanks for the compliment.

So, I stand by JStutter, a 1998 CA spec does not exist.

you are telling me my eyes didnt see what i saw? how about i provide you pictures later on to prove you wrong?

Build date 4/98 and the sticker on the firewall passenger side reveals a CA spec.
