DSMs Are So Gay...
DSMs Are So Gay...
...but I bought one anyway
Some of you knew I was going to, some of you thought I was acting a little weird the last couple weeks, many of you have been totally oblivious
Anyway, on to the important part: I bought a '95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5-speed today. It has 101,xxx miles and I am the 4th owner. All the owners have owned the vehicle for many years, two of which were older and the most previous one was a guy who was younger but really took care of it and daily drove it. Well, he took care of it mechanically anyway. The paint is bad in some spots, and the interior was absolutely gross. I saw potential in the car though and have already tonight cleaned it up considerably. It was like a diamond in the rough and I snatched it up for a measly $800
Why a DSM you ask? Why this car? Why not buy stuff for the Maxima? The answer is that quite frankly I grew tired of a modified Maxima...I just wanted the great feeling it had stock back. So recently I demodded it save for the lights, y-pipe, and cat-back, and I have never enjoyed the car on a daily basis since I bought the thing and it was stock. It had become an awesome daily driver again, and I needed something to fill the void. Less than a week after I decided to demod the Maxima, my friend who's uncle owns a gas station calls me and says, "Hey...we have a turbo Talon here for $800 sitting in our lot...I think you should buy it." I drove over immediately, took one good look over it and said of course I NEED to buy it. It is simply a much better base to work off of than the Maxima for performance reasons, and I am keeping the Maxima as a daily driver...I'll have the best of both worlds. I will also FINALLY have something with a manual transmission!
The run-down:
1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5-speed
101,xxx miles
Black
Gray cloth interior
Stock T-25 turbo @ 15 PSI
-3" turbo-back exhaust including 3" high-flow cat
-K&N filter
-Hard upper intercooler pipe with 1st. gen blow-off valve
-Underdrive crank pulley
-Manual boost controller
-Boost gauge (gauge cluster mounted)
-Apex'i turbo timer
Needless to say, I couldn't be any happier with the purchase and look forward to joining a 2nd great community of car enthusiasts. This in no way means I am out of the Maxima community, I will still be here every day trying to help people and trying to learn more.
I am sorry, but I wasn't able to take very good pictures in the dark of after the cleaning so I will take some new ones tomorrow. For now, here is a teaser

Yeah, for $800 I was stupid not to pick this thing up at the very least to make money parting it out. I plan on keeping it, though, and making it my weekend car.
lol ya...not hating on the car but it is true...talons/eclipses or integras are half of what highschoolers drive, thinking they have the most badass car out there. (but only if they have the altezzas, $20 alum. wing, and the flat black painted hood)

Took it out for a spin tonight...bad idea. Managed to overheat it just cruising around town and more than likely blew the headgasket
Oh well, it was on it's way to my buddy's garage to have that sort of thing taken care of anyway so I am not losing sleep over it. Boy is it fun, though, even on the stock T25

Incorrect. Next purchase: a friend who doesn't fail at using my camera. Not that I need to buy friends
This is a Sunoco gas station people, not my house
Yup
My wallet should be ~$500 lighter all said and done to fix all the leaks, headgasket, etc.
