Over drive : on or off while on track?

I'm planning on heading to a track this weekend with a friend of mine. We're just going to have some fun, and I want to see how my car is and compare it to my times/speeds after I start to mod it.

My question is: should I keep overdrive on or off while racing?

i'd keep it off. cause it just makes ur tranni got nuch hotter and cause it to overheat. ir ur car needs it. it will prob use it automaticly but i doubt it. plus it might make ur times worse.

It does matter. Depending on your intake manifold, manually 1-2, then put it in OD.

i never noticed a difference when i had my auto.. try it both ways and see if you see a difference.. you'll probably get at least a few runs in to test it out

i was never good at the manually shifting an auto tranny... i tried it once, heard a loud bang, big jerk, and never tried it again.. lol

There will be no difference, on or off, unless your car is actually shifting in to over drive while at the track, which I highly doubt.

There is a late 3rd gear hiccup that occurs when shifting manually (if left in 3rd). So if you do have an IM to support 'high' RPM shifting, best thing to do is shift into OD after you shift out of 2nd (essentially skip 3rd). This is assuming your car will not bounce off the limiter at the end of the track. And that would only be the case if you're running very small dia. front tires or you've changed your actual in tranny gear ratios.
