My track day 7-6-08 - 2007 Altima

so i went out to englishtown this past weekend for sport compact slam. it was pretty good, met some cool people, got some good runs in, and almost went deaf from all the puerto rican tuner cars that ran 7's all day!
anyways i hit a new PB time and i just wanted to share with you all. heres the details. i went up against an evo, and i did pretty well. dont mind the reaction time i was trying to get my 60ft down!

----- me ---- evo
RT --- .744 -- .637
60' --- 2.207 - 1.944
330' -- 6.104 - 5.656
1/8 --- 9.255 - 8.715
MPH -- 79.13 - 79.52
1000 - 11.958 - 11.382
1/4 --- 14.225- 13.607
MPH -- 100.00- 100.75

now judging by the 60' times and the MPH in the 1/8 and the 1/4, if me and this evo were on the street racing from a roll it would be a really close race, i might have even beat him...who knows?

but anyways, i had also ran my car at the track in november and judging by all the numbers from both of my runs, i was supposed to run a slightly faster time in november, that has to do with colder weather, but i ran out of gas in 4th gear. heres the run from november, you guys do the judging.

RT - .886
60' - 2.205
330' - 6.076
1/8 - 9.221
MPH - 79.04
1000 - 11.939
1/4 - 14.511
MPH - 82.47

i most definately wouldve hit a faster time, and the trap speed wouldve been about the same.

heres the video

all i have is a fujita short ram, which really didnt do much with the 90F weather and humidity that we had at that time.

oh btw the tuner cars were the toyota starlets, and all those small mazda rotories!

Awesome time. Get that 60ft down to the 2.1X's and you'll be knocking on the door of 13.9X's! Especially with some cooler temps outside.
I had an 02 Altima 3.5 5spd that I got to run at the 1/8th - really wanted to see what it woulda done in the 1/4 but never got to run it there
Weird, but makes me wonder if that 5spd is more efficient at putting the power down than the Maxima's 6spd trans -- Or possibly better gear ratios. I'm sure there are threads of the past that discuss the topic already though.

to answer both of you questions, my car is a manual with 6 speeds not 5. all the 07+ altimas with the 4cyl and 6cyl come with a 6MT, no more 5MT. its much better and funner than the cvt...cvt makes me feel like an old man.

highly doubt it... as a general rule, i'm pretty sure more gears usually means faster

more gears does not necessarily mean it will accelerate faster, it just means that the top speed will be higher. and btw the older 5spds i believe are stronger than the new 6 spds that nissan has for their fwd cars.

i think the first 2 gears in both the 5MT and 6MT are the same ratio. the ratio changes as the gears go up. the 6MT's 6th gear was meant for better gas mileage since its an extra overdrive gear. anything less than a 1:1 ratio is overdrive, the 5MT only had one, and the 6MT has two.

6 gears = more parasitic loss, albeit small. This has been discussed in depth in the past, hate to bring it back.

But, I would personally rather have 6 gears myself.

This was calculated on unloaded tires with respect to stock tire sizes and gear ratios.

werd ^^^^^. combine 6-gears and a 7100RPM limit and you have one murderous 3rd gear for highway rolls. 4th is also pretty nasty, but being able to run 3rd out to ~100 FTMFW

Very Nice Times that's impressive for just a Intake. I truly believe the new V6 Atly's have more power than 270 HP.

Because the Alty's are making 261HP to the wheels with just a intake. That's only a 9HP Wheel loss from the crank to the wheels those numbers dont add up that's why I feel Nissan under rated the Horsepower. "Thats a good thing for you"

i should be getting a custom catback installed with 2.5" piping and 3" mufflers. should be good for approximately 6whp more and probably 8wtq more.
